How to make a 16 year old's day fixing her laptop.

My daughter is 16 years old and will be attending Chattanooga State for the fall semester where my wife and I attend currently. She has an older Acer 5720z laptop she has been using for a couple of years that had a broken keyboard, ran hot, and constantly had issues with stability. I bought a new keyboard and installed it, cleaned out the dust, and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 with all the updates.
You should have seen hers eyes light up when she got it back.
When you take the time to revitalize older equipment and make it run proficient, the outcome can often be positive.
I am so proud of her and I am thankful I have the ability to build and fix computers which aides me in saving money and making those around me happy.

You're welcome, if you're having heat problems, you should also reapply new thermal paste to the CPU heatsink.

Make sure she knows not to leave the laptop on the quilt of the bed so it bakes itself. Maybe get her an inexpensive notebook cooler, something like the notepal u2 or something, to keep it elevated and cool.

Its always nice to fix up old hardware and really feel the speed, especially when bloatware is removed from default windows installations.

I already have a customized cooler for her to use. I added a couple of fans to it right under the vents when the laptop sits upon it. I am way ahead . LOL. I am the dad of 5 girls and 1 boy.
