Folding 3930k in Ubuntu 10.10 VM

Thread Starter
I am sorry but I have had a difficult time finding a guide on to how to set up such a VM.

I am using Oracle VirtualBox and I want to set up a linux VM to fold on my 8 core SB-e.

I have been able to setup a 10.10 (10.10 has been the best for folding) vm but then I went to install the smp using the directions on Stanford's page and when I went to -configonly I was told only 1 core was detected.

Thanks in advance for the guidance!

Oh I think I found the guide I was looking for...here

That's the guide you want. Just make sure you set the core count to 12 in the VM settings.

What I ended up doing was continuing with a normal Ubuntu 10.10 setup (using an .iso that I had created). Then I followed Stanford's guide to setting up smp. Then I used the previously mentioned guide to change the settings to enable all cores/threads and such.

Here we go!
