AsRock Z77 Extreme6 vs Asus Maximus V Formula

Thread Starter
I'm gonna build a new rig very soon and I wanna know what you guys think about it. I'm currently considering the AsRock Z77 Extreme6 and the Asus Maximus V Formula, I know that the Maximus is obviously the better board but I'm not gonna do extreme LN2 cooling etc, the only reason I'm considering the Maximus is the colour and the fact that it is ROG and its kinda prestigious. The AsRock board is way cheaper than the Asus one and it has most of the functions of the Asus boardhs to offer, but the theme of my overall build is red and black, do you guys think the gold caps will spoil the whole colour scheme? In the end, which board will you guys recommended I get?

Coming from the Rampage 4 Extreme, I'd have to go with the formula, but I'm biased tongue.gif

edit: now that I think about it though, the red and gold scheme could work and look really nice, so if your two priorities for the board are color and price, then I'd go with the Asrock since it is cheaper and would not look bad with the scheme

if you were gonna go h20 cooling you could do some dark red opaque tubing and look around for goldish compression fittings with some of these:
cold cathodes

If you do not need the features of the MVF, then the Asrock is a great board. You could go in between and do the Asrock Z77 OC and still get a lot of the features of the MVF such as built in VRM water cooling.

For LN2, nothing but MVF. Sure the Extreme6 is great for the price, but it just isn't the best.
