Hey everyone, my Asus monitor had developed a hot pixel that would not go away, and working 8 hours a day doing CAD work with a black background and a white pixel stuck in your face makes the monitor trash in my eyes. So i'm looking for a nice replacement, and I really don't know much about monitors.
Here is my monitor that developed the hot pixel, and was only 6 months old.

after removing the anti glare sheet, it really popped, colors were nice, blacks were great, and had every port you could imagine ( except usb ), the only thing i didn't like about it was the thickness ( has built in speakers which i have no use for ) and the cosmetic apperance of the stand/bezel was terrible and very ugly ( and a designer like myself, these things are very annoying )
I also have this dell

its nice, small, very thin, but I have not attempted to remove the anti-glare sheet, but its decent overall. I think mainly due to the anti glare sheet, colors are a bit dim and bland compared to my asus. But its very minimal, only a dvi and vga port, and no vesa mounts. overall design is nice, bezel is much nicer than my asus. slightly smaller screen. I've had it for about a year now, and i'm not sure if i like its 21.5" screen more or less than the asus 23", the asus deffinately looked bigger, but the dell has slightly better DPI, and due to my job, i'm able to spot individual pixels like a mo-fo, and higher DPI = cleaner looking images
here are things i'm looking for
- 1080 at least
- high DPI ( no 27" 1080's )
- nice overall apperance, no goofy lines or massive bezels
- preferably thin profile.
- usb plugs would be great.
- dead/stuck pixels are unforgiveable
- I really love the look of the apple displays, but I can't justify paying $1000 for a new 27", or $800 for the 24", or buying an older version for the price of 2 new monitors.
- Single display, not interested in dual set ups
- my video card is a GTX 580, so gaming wise, I can handle just about anything.
I've thought of the korean 27" monitors, but at this time, they may be out of my budget, and the 2 microcenters in my state are both a 3 hour drive there, and neither store has any in stock, and I generally don't like buying anything I can't see with my own eyes beforehand ( and something like this, I would want to test it before I left the store ) I could also use this monitor to replace my old 720p tv, as I don't have any cable provider, just nextflix, hulu, and dvds/movie downloads, and its much easier seeing a 27" monitor from across the room than a small 22", and the higher resolution would look much better than my 32" 720p tv.
I can't say i've used an ISP monitor, so I don't know how they compare
So let me know what are some good monitors that you think fit what i'm looking for.
I just hope for a day when we can get a 1440 24" monitor, that would be perfection in my eyes.
