Try selling people a product that they have to have, don't want, and think you're only there to rip them off. I developed a very tough skin and got used to being yelled at. A lot. Then I landed this gig and I've never been so happy.
Also, just to make you feel better about getting out there and trying to find something different...I was turned down for 10 positions before I got hired for this one (yep, lucky number 11). You have to keep your head up and keep trying or you'll find yourself stuck in a job you hate and that just makes life miserable (trust me, I know).
And Pidoma, I'd say, if you don't like what you're doing, put yourself out there and try to find something else. You just have to be able to take rejection (in this job market, employeers are able to be picky) and just keep trying until you find something.
Also, be unconventional. I landed this job partially because of the work I have done with folding (even though the manager had never heard of it). I showed them that I was able to learn new things quickly and on my own (I.E. learning how to use Ubuntu, VMs, networking, etc.) to fold. Also, I had just broken into the top 1,000 folders world wide. I started talking about it in the interview, pulled out my phone, pulled up my EOC stats and showed them. I also showed them a picture of my setup at home (which at the time consisted of 7 computers, 5 monitors, 2 keyboards, 2 mice). I made it clear that, yes, I have no formal computer training, but I know what I'm doing and what I don't know, I can learn quickly. After the interview I got a call from the hiring manager saything that they filled the position that I had applied for, but they would like to offer me a better position. And here I am. Don't be afraid to be yourself and be passionate in an interview. I'm EXTREMELY passionate about folding, talked a lot about what I have learned because of it, the accomplishments I have made with it (top 1,000 world wide, and at the time top 100 on OCN). In the end she said they were impressed with my knowledge base and how driven I was to learn on my own. Those two things are what helped me land the job. All because I talked about folding and how much I love it!

I am actually working on some stuff that I enjoy working. I am with this job, because it allows me to work on other things and still make enough money for the bills. My hours are nice and the location is great. I just like to complain about it haha

That's cool, I'm glad to hear your not as unhappy with it as it seemed before. I know what it is like to truly hate your job (that was me when I was selling/servicing insurance). Now I have trouble complaining about my job because even on a bad day, I still like it. A bad day used to be, "I got yelled at on 43 calls today and cussed out on 20 of those." Now a bad day is "I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the sytem to calculate this rate, this way and then have the system display this..." So now a bad day is a day that I ran into a configuration problem that I struggled with (which I actually enjoy because it lets me use my head). I didn't get yelled, nothing really went wrong, things are just taking longer than I'd like. Really, how can I complain about that!?

So, we're 15 days into this contest and we have 13 people referred. I'd say that's pretty promising. Before the competition started, there were 3 or 4 people referring everyone to TC. Now we have a variety of folks trying to help. I'm pretty happy with that aspect of the results. I hope the next 45 days become even better than the first 15. biggrin.gif
