30" dell, for $500 should I buy?

A local used electronics store has a 30" dell 3007 for $500 out the door, and i'm thinking about picking it up.
( 10 day return policy, 90 day warranty )

Its an old model ( from around 2007 ) it seems, but was made to compete directly with apples 30" monitor

it seems like a good deal ( not sure if its ISP or not )

considering the 27" microcenter korean monitors are about $450 or so after tax and shipping, for $50 more you get a quality name and more pixels.

I'm running a single gtx580 with OC'ed to 950mhz, but its only 1.5gigs, so my gaming performance will take a pretty big hit, but my main reason for wating a large, high res monitor was to basically give it double duty as a tv. I don't have cable, and watch dvd's, netflix, downloaded movies, etc, and I can have a single monitor vs a small 1080 monitor, and a large tv for media viewing ( and 30" is plenty for movies in my apartment )

So what do you guys think?
( i've yet to see it in person and will go look at it later today )

$500 dell 30" monitor?

IMO I wouldn't for a few reasons, but some of the main ones being that they have a limited number of inputs, they have no scaler [if you're using a resolution below native it can't handle it properly] and unless its the high color one, its not going to have the same panel of the later models.

the inputs does not bother me, so for instance, if I set a games resolution to 1080, it would not display it properly? and is there any way to tell if its a high color version?

Edit: it is an S-ISP panel, and I really like the 4 usb ports on the monitor, as my case is a test bench, and is hard to access the usb ports ( as I take my mouse with me to work ) reaching around and plugging things in can be a pain.

Model will be Dell U3007HC - the non HC's only display 72% of the color gamut I believe - it would only have an issue if say you plugged in a PS3 since the PS3 cannot output higher than a 1080 signal, since your GPU can do scaling it wouldn't be an issue for setting a game at 1080

well thats not really a problem for me, I use my PC for everything, I have no xbox/ps3/dvd/blueray/etc, or any interest in buying any of those things, I play everything through my PC ( putting my $1500 system to use ) games, movies, music, emulators of old consoles, streaming, work, etc.

The only thing I didn't use it for was previously was movie watching, i had a cheap HTPC build ( which i just sold ), which was connected to my tv, simply because they were in other rooms, and I couldn't feasibly connect my rig to the tv, but my new place is an open studio space, so If i get this monitor, I'll have zero need or use for my old TV

Obviously when I go check it out, if it has any pixel problems or anything, I don't want it. ( sold my old monitor simply because 1 pixel was going out )

If i get it, after the warranty is up, i'll crack it open and clean it out and peel off the anti-glare sheet, glossy finish FTW

I'm also a little worried about how much i'll have to tone down games like BF3 and skyrim, but IMO, gameplay experience is better than visuals, I'd rather play a fun game on low settings than a so-so game on ultra.
( bf3 i often keep it at a custom mix of high-ultra to insure solid 60's ) But playing some games like Civilization 5 maxed in 1600 sounds amazing, and I don't mind playing some games in window mode if needed, just put a solid dark color wallpaper and i'll be fine.

I also tinker with some music programs, and Occasionally i'll bring my work home ( CAD drafter ) so that would be amazing to have all those extra pixels.
