Phone refuses to see music?

I'm having an issue with my HTC MyTouch 4g and it's SD Card.

It won't see my music on the SD card, but it's there, and if I go into ES File Explorer and play the file it works just fine. I also restored a CWM backup and it was working fine.

I've tried

AwesomeICS V3.7 (ICS) (was working fine until yesterday)
Stock 2.3.4
Stock 2.2.1
And Clockworkmod 10 (Jellybean 4.1.1)

The error it tells me is "No music on SD card"

I tried copying music off and back on, and still no dice. Any idea?

going to copy my backups off and format the card and see what happens.

Android employs a media scanner service that makes an index of all of your music files in the background. Most of the music player apps for Android use this index to build their libraries, since its much easier than manually scanning for files.

There are a few things you can try:


1. Use an app to manually trigger a rescan: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.addz.mediascanner&hl=en
2. Look for the presence of files called ".nomedia" on the SD card. These tell the media scanner to skip the directory because there are no media files present. I had a .nomedia file in my root sdcard directory and it caused a similar issue.
3. Try jetAudio Basic. In addition to being a great music player, it also maintains its own index with an option to manually scan for files.
I am not a Corsair fanboy :/ (Now with 25% less Corsair!!!)
