i bought the gamestop downlod of bf3 and and downloaded it then i downloaded origin then i installed BF3 which took about 10 minutes and then i updated it which took a couple of hours. after that it stil didn't launch so i moved my folders around and for some reason origin wants to download the game even if i put the files back it still wants to download the game so i decided to download it on my work computer. So my question is can i transfer BF3 on to my other computer without having to re download it ?

Yep that works, as long as you retain the original file/folder structure. I've done it a few times when I had to reinstall windows.

Origin says it's downloading, but I think it just verifies the files.

Yeah what I do is backup the game folder, Install windows, origin, set it to download, close origin, copy folder, replace, open origin, verify install. Worked every time so far smile.gif

ok now that i feel better i just want to ask one more question. since i have origin on my external hard drive and BF3 is downloading on my external hard drive, do i still have to download origin on my other computer ? also i'm not sure on how to back up the game. And one more thing, since i have everything on my external hard drive do i repeat the steps that you just told me or do i need to do something different ? if so could you tell me ? i know i'm asking alot of questions but right now i'm desperate because i bought this game almost a week ago and i have been spending more time trying to troubleshoot then actually playing the game. so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have BF3 on my external drive as well and just used it to install BF3 on my laptop. Here is what I did.

Install Origin
Start download of BF3
Close origin
Copy and replace BF3 folder
Start Origin back up and it automatically finished the install
After that I will right click on BF3 and click repair

Wait for that to finish and everything ran smooth with no problems.

I have done that with several differnt computers and it has worked every time.

A friend of mine did it by simply copying the entire "Battlefield 3" folder in his "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\" folder to an external HDD and later pasting it in the same place once Windows was reinstalled. This was on a Macbook Pro but it was still running Windows 7 64-bit in both cases. Origin apparently picked up the game on startup and that was it - it ran. Running a "repair" on the installation once Origin picks it up is not a bad idea at all. It should ensure the game integrity is good and that Origin is happy with BF3's installation.

Should be able to just go to origin DL it, then install it from origins site via your account.
