[Solved] Windows 8: Any way to change the title bar / min button / max button font color?

Solved, read the last post... In short... it can't be done. mad.gif

I love using black style but in Windows 8 you can't read the Title Bar OR the minimize / maximize buttons... how this got past MS I have no idea...

Anyway to fix this issue?

That's in Windows 7 but in the Windows 8 world it has gone away... sad-smiley-002.gif

Oh sorry, I missed the bit where you said win8. Are the registry keys still there?

Yep, but not sure of the color to number mapping...

The numbers are decimal equivalents to hex codes for colors: 105 105 105 = #696969 = DimGray

Should fix this up shortly, many thanks!

Also the wrong one is highlighted, the one that controls the title text color is "TitleText" tongue.gif

The actual registry location is NOT Control Panel>Colors. IT IS CONTROL PANEL > DESKTOP > COLORS

edit: can't get any change to work... maybe the reg values are there but don't do anything... ohno-smiley.gif

Changed both scroll bar numbers to 0 0 0 to turn them black and I got nothing after reboot. I conclude they are dud values. sad-smiley-002.gif

Yeah it will be decimal values. The hex thing is a web convention that people have later adopted, originally colours were mapped with either a three part unsigned byte value (255,255,255) or one part signed integer (32767).

Meh, just figured out that you can only change those items in "High Contrast Mode". So the reg values must only be used for that. sadsmiley.gif

Guess I'll just ignore the title bar and randomly click in the right hand corner and hope I hit the right box button (minimize / maximize).

Changing the registry keys doesn't automatically change the colours. Did you restart explorer.exe (eg logging off and back on again) after making your changes to the reg?
