Has MSI confirmed TT's comments regarding Nvidia. If not that, has another source excluding TT confirmed this?

Of course MSI isn't going to respond to this if Nvidia is breathing down their necks. There's no way to know for sure what is going on but I don't really see much of a reason for TT to lie. They could be but that doesn't change the fact that Nvidia can stop all of this at anytime by making TT sign an NDA and providing review samples to a well established and credible tech site...
Or they could not, since they

A.) arent required to do so and
B.) They're pissed at TT for leaks and such

If we are under the assumption that both parties are acting equally childish and unprofessional, why would Nvidia ever provide TT with review samples after TT continue to release what they deem early reviews?

It seems to me that a lot of you have already made up your mind that this is somehow a one sided issue

Not at all. I'm saying that this episode hurts Nvidia worse than it does TT so they should just cut their losses and give them an NDA. Otherwise TT will continue to release reviews before NDA lifts and Nvidia will have no control over that content...

So, in the end, we still only have one source making a claim against a company in which their relationship has been strained for quite some time. This indicates a clear potential for their to be a bias and this is only furthered by the fact that TT is still the only source making a claim regarding this topic. We can also derive that TT is profiting from this article since they are receiving web hits from at least this website and potentially other enthusiast forums linking this article, so we can establish that there is a potential cause for TT to lie: profit.

Now, I'm not saying that they are lying, I'm saying the potential is there and until another source--any source that can at least be deemed somewhat reliable--confirms TT's statement, it is only reasonable to assume that the article and source itself is unreliable and should not be used as the foundation for a reasonable argument.

I have nothing against TT or Nvidia. I'm basing my information on what is given so far, and so far, I know enough not to trust and treat a single, unconfirmed source as factual. Oh, just to throw it out there: we could also replace TT with any other enthusiast website such as Anandtech, TechPowerUp, etc and we'd still be in the same situation.

Who's at fault is irrelevant to me. TT could be making the whole thing up and it doesn't change the fact that it is bad business for Nvidia not to shut them up with an NDA. Give them samples, make them sign a legally binding NDA and all this goes away. A big corporation like Nvidia shouldn't be acting in a tit-for-tat manner. Their product launches are being compromised and the responsible thing for them to do for themselves and their shareholders and to stop TT releasing reviews ahead of NDA regardless of whether or not they personally like TT...

Isn't that beside the point of the actual article--the supposed "fact" that Nvidia is using strong-arm tactics against MSI. If Nvidia simply complied after this article--not because it was true but because TT continued to post articles that potentially hurt Nvidia's reputation/name--then wouldn't TT be using strong-arm tactics against Nvidia? Personally, I've never just complied with threats or blackmail, but again, that's just me.

You ask all the right questions and come to, at least partially, the wrong conclusions. You are claiming that TweakTown is profiting off of this article, that is probably false. Are they getting ad impressions? Sure. But speaking out like this can only destroy any relationship they had left with Nvidia. They wouldn't do that unless they already had written off that relationship. Now neither of us knows why they have written it off, if it is over the allegations in the article or for some other reason.

Again, this leads me to try and find a different article with similar claims being made. Sadly, I cannot find any other article that is making similar claims. This tells me that I should not take this article as truth regardless of whether or not TweakTown is speaking the truth. Until another website validates TweakTown's claims, I'm forced to take this article with a grain of salt and not derive information from it to support my own assertions, regardless of whether that information coincides with my own argument or belief.

You must not have searched very hard then. I remember just a couple months ago a Chinese group building a supercomputer said that Nvidia was very arrogant in dealing with them, one of the accusations made by TweakTown,
http://www.brightsideofnews.com/news/2012/6/21/china-nvidia-loses-face-and-a-10-million-pc-order-over-linux-drivers-and-nres.aspx
There are other examples I have read of Nvidia strong-arming their partners and review sites. It would take longer than I care to take on a forum to find and post but I do remember reading other stories.

To be honest I find at least part of their story credible. In fact I would be interested to know what your professor would think if you forwarded him the story.

I wasn't aware they had much if any relationship with Nvidia since TweakTown itself has confirmed that Nvidia has chosen to cut all ties with TT and not speak with them.

Also, I don't believe past actions validate current speculation as truth.

Oh, and in regards to the professor/mentor thing: she'd likely tell me the same thing that I've repeated just shortly ago: determine whether the source is reliable for reasons x, y, z before using it in an essay/argument wink.gif

Treating this issue like "well they don't deserve samples now!" has the same inherent logical flaw as pirates stating that they are stealing because of DRM, when they are the reason DRM exists.

Yeah sure but I really fail to see how you can even be fair in this situation if you choose to comment on it. We just don't have the info.
That's not a good excuse. Given what people believe these days it behooves us to not be the source of misinformation or give the allusion of having given all the information.
