Need help overclocking

Thread Starter
I know i didn't buy the best quality stuff, but it's kinda transitional hardware until DirectX 10 comes out. Here's my specs: Pentium 805 D, AsRock 775Dual-Vista, Corsair Value Select DDR2 667 (2GB), GeForce 6800GT, TermalTake PurePower 480W. I really haven't been able to get anything stable above 148FSB, and even that's iffy, i didn't test it too long. Anything above that and i'll immediately have problems; blue screens and programs crash to desktop. I've tried virtually every memory BIOS setting combination i could and still no go but im unfamiliar with what all the settings mean and it's effect on overclocking the CPU. What do i need to do to get most flexible memory settings (timings and clock) so i can OC the CPU as much as i can then start tightening up the memory. After that how can i test if my problem is the CPU or memory? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there and welcome, first of all you should consider putting your specs in the System Specs section in User CP. Makes it clearer for us to read !
Anyway, have you checked your temperatures ? If not get Speedfan (just type speedfan in your browser's address bar)
And to test whether your memory is the problem, get memtest86 (just type memtest86 on the address bar).
Once you give us feedback on those, we maybe could help you more on your overclocking...
