I just formatted the Hard Drive of my Acer Travelmate 5560-8225, rebooted, and got windows to start installing. Expanding windows files was stuck at 0% when I quit the installation. Now it tries to boot in the boot order but fails. I hit F2 to get into the BIOS and it beeps and says "Please wait" but instead it reboots. ALT+F10 will give off a beep but won't bring up the recovery. Basically the BIOS posts, but reboots the laptop instead of doing what I tell it. any ideas?

Let it boot into the install disc if you can. Ive also never heard of pressing alt + f10 to get into bios before, try just f10.

I have the windows install CD in. ALT-F10 is for the recovery manager if you have a windows DVD its an ACER thing. F2 is for the bios. Any idea on how to clear the CMOS/reset BIOS?

Leave the cmos and the ALTf10 you already wiped whatever OS you had on the hard drive initially so there is nothing to recover from. Put in the install disc again so it can boot and try to install again. IF it doesnt boot go ahead into the bios to change the boot order and make the dvd your first priority boot. Report back to how it goes.

But I just said I CAN'T get into the bios what-so-ever. I hit F2 and it says "Please wait, entering BIOS" then it goes black and reboots. Over and over. I can't get into the boot selector, or the Acer ALT+F10 recovery. I tired the hold power button for one minute method but that doesn't work

I said urgent cause I wanted this for my holiday, but since I leave in 3 hours guess that's not going to happen :/

Remove both the hard drive and the install disc and then try and enter the bios.

Have seen something similar at work when the partition table on the HDD gets corrupted badly. Also seen this happen when a hard drive dies; which could've been triggered(but not directly caused by) you reformatting it.

I've tried removing the hard drive, still the same issue. Booting without a Windows DVD makes the reboot loop happen alot faster. The Hard Drive is fine I've tested it in other systems.

I'm begining to think this is because Ubuntu (the OS i had prior to the Win 7 installation attempt) has a Weird UEFI workaround. It makes it's own boot device called "ubuntu" and forces the laptop to boot to it, and because it's not present it causes a constant loop. Unfortunatley I cannot restore the previous installation, but I will try installing Ubuntu on this Hard Drive using another computer and sticking it back in my laptop to see if the UEFI workaround takes it.

I am wondering if it will boot with ubuntu disk, you being said that you've tried ubuntu before.
If it boots on ubuntu, that is you chance to clean format your drive to make it ready for your installation.
