Alright so I got all my LGA 2011 stuff in today super excited about the build. Come to find out the CPU block doesn't fit this motherboard. Since it won't allow a backplate, I can't use it. Now I have a Pc shop an hour away I'm gunna go get a waterblock in the morning please help me find a good block. Less than 70 would be Awsome but 100 at Max

I have the as rock extreme 9 please help will retun the favor!

lol ek blocks suck. high flow but quality sucks. i would go for a heatkiller 3.0 nickel if i were you, OP. just about the same performance as the ek supreme hf. the raystorm is good if you cant get the heatkiller

also the heatkiller 3.0 is set up to install on lga 2011. i have it myself.

For the price the raystorm is a great choice, but if you want looks the EK HF supreme is hella sexy and a great block.

as a general rule the heatsink mount that came on the board that has the screw holes comes off in favor of a smaller one (usually included with board) that leaves the holes in the board bare where you then mount a backplate that came with your water block (possibly the issue you're having now?)

It doesn't come off. I don't believe. It's like a whole inside it. It won't unscrew I don't believe. I want to use the block I have but it's like a plastic peice inside not allowing the backplate to come through so I can mount my block

upon looking at your board it doesn't appear that it can be detached. strange
UNLESS the screws are on the back of the board instead of the front

It sounds like maybe you just don't know how to install your block? Can you actually find links to the products you own already? That is to say the model of block you got and the motherboard?
