Just wondering about this

Do you guys think I made the right decision in buying the AX650 for $140 vs the HX650 for $110? Just wondering because I can still return it if the HX is a bit more worth it. I mean I love the full modular part but just wondering.

The AX is Gold certified(more efficient) & HX is Silver certified (a little less efficient but still very good). You'll get your money's worth at the end of the year smile.gif

IMO when it comes to PSU's, always go for the highest quality you can afford.

My AX isn't even listed. frown.gif Sad. Yea ok, I guess I'll stay with this. Thinking of putting it next weekend when I have time and I get a bit more things. I need more black tiewires and gonna change all the sleeved cables to red. I'm going to return the ones I just bought. Lol the store is gonna be so mad at me. I've returned so many things. I bought a voltage monitor for 3 weeks and on the last day i returned it because I only needed it to get some info on the amount of voltage I'm actually pumping into my CPU. Less than what CPU-Z says.

The AX should be quieter, but otherwise there's no point. The efficiency difference is a joke lol, never factor that in unless you fold 24/7

No, he won't, the difference between the two units in efficiency is so small that it likely will not be noticed. As Vuashke noted above it's not even worth taking efficiency into consideration unless you will be folding 24/7. Normal computer use won't have the system drawing enough power all the time to make the benefit of a slightly higher efficiency PSU even tangible.

But should I stay with the AX or go with the HX and get the savings? Just wondering. I always second guess my purchases.

Just stick with what you got, it's a very nice unit regardless. wink.gif

The AX650 is superior in efficiency (as little as that matters), electrical performance (not that anybody will notice), fan quality, fan noise, and cabling. HX650 is solid but really outdated, not worth $110. Then again, AX650 may not be worth $140 either. I don't think either is a particularly savvy choice, but they're both high quality and you get Corsair's warranty and support. If your wallet can take it, it's good.

Swapping down for $30 seems like a waste of time to me, especially since you said you liked the full modular cables.
The difference between the two is really not noticeable as both are good units. If you are able to get back some $$$, then by all means go with the cheaper unit. Also, the fact that the HX650 is not fully modular doesn't matter because the cables that are attached to it are pretty much the standard ones you do in fact need to use regardless of setup.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll stick with the AX. I was looking at the HX and I didn't like how the cables that weren't modular were put. I mean, I didn't like that fact that I'd have to either use that or have a big mess at the back because it isn't sleeved. I hate unsleeved cables, just plain ugly.
