Ok, so in CS GO the new standard for servers is 128 tic, or at least on good servers, on mediocre ones it is 64 I believe which it will default too anyways if you have your cvar's set to 128.
Regarding my FPS, I am able to get 200+ fps which fluctuates between 200-300 extremely chaotically, it is not stable and jumps from 250-300 and 200-300 and everything in between constantly; however it almost never drops below 200 FPS.
I have been doing reading and I am confused on to how I should be setting everything.
I am also now using a 120HZ monitor which is awesome by the way, never realized how smooth it could feel until I got one.
Anyways I read that for the best results you should have your FPS set to 2X your refreshrate +1. This seems like an insane request in modern games as at 120HZ you would need to set your max fps to 241FPS which would be hard to maintain at constant even for new high end cards. I am currently using 2 EVGA gtx 670 FTW's and I don't even know if I could do 241 constant FPS in all situation.
I keep reading conflicting views on what settings I should be using and everything and it is bothing the piss out of me.
Right now in CS go my settings for netcode are as such:
cl_interp 0 (automatically selects best setting for particular server from my understanding)
cl_interp_ratio 1 (Only interpolates 2 frames instead of 3 I believe)
cl_cmdrate 128
cl_update rate 128
rate 80000 which is the default rate to my understanding. Apparently the max rate you can set on a server is 128000 or something, should I be setting my rate to this? I was using 50000 before, does it make any difference?
Currently I have just been using max_fps 300 which is the default. Should I be capping it? If so what should I be capping it at?
Also my LERP is at 15.6MS on a 64 tic server or on 128 is like 8 or 9. something. However the bottleneck would be my relatively poor ping which is almost always 50+ usually around 70-80 depending on servers. I only get 25 down and 3up for bandwidth with my current internet plan, which at this point is not upgradeable, but which I believe to be at least good enough to game with, not optimal, but certainly it should be good enough right?
I think my relatively high ping is a result of living in Canada, specifically saskatoon, saskatchewan and most servers being located in the U.S.
Anyways can anyone give me some insight into all of this nonsense? I am at a loss of what I should be doing for optimal settings. Someone told me I should match my FPS to my refresh rate, but then another person told me to match it to my netcode settings, so 128. Yet another person told me to leave it at 300 because it doesn't make a difference and high FPS = less input lag but I have read that having it set to max and experiencing that constant fluctuation messes with your mouse sensitivity.
Also I am using mouse raw input set to 1 , this is ideal correct? My polling rate on my mouse is 1000HZ amd so is my mechanical cherry red keyboard which uses USB interface but has a PS2 adapter. It has 8 key rollover so I didn't feel the need to use PS2 port.
What should I do! Arghh this stuff is driving me crazy
EDIT: Also what is LERP and I am under the impression that the lower it is the better correct is it ok if it is lower than my ping, is there anything I need to make sure of in regards to LERP to make sure I experience optimal gaming.
