My XFX Cards are from a member here M3t4lHead and he was using them in a quadfire setup.
My PowerColor cards were bought new around 50 days ago from newegg.

Oh and I have tried around 10 different BIOSes, I flashed so much that I remember the command line by heart in Atiwinflash, I also know how to repair a corrupted BIOS now too.

Did you try all possible combinations of tri-fire with your cards ? I mean you can do regular crossfire right ? I can't do even that with 12.8 drivers/ 12.6 drivers.

Have you tried this fix ? :

For various crashes, choppiness, fps drops here what I think cause it. It's not Realtek, not PunkBuster, not DICE. It's timers issues. Windows use both Time Stamp Counter and PM Timer by default, enforce the use of PM Timer only and the games run awesomely.

For Windows Vista/7 open up a command window and type in:

bcdedit /set useplatformclock true

Reboot

For Win XP: Programs that use the QueryPerformanceCounter function may perform poorly in Windows Server 2000, in Windows Server 2003, and in Windows XP

Windows will now run Local APICs or HPET (if enabled) as the only timer instead of getting out of sync with a mixture of TSC+ACPI timers.
etc, just quick read that thread.

It could be the problem, then again it may be not, but still worth a try

Update: R11 drivers + CAP 12.7 Metro 2033 benchmark at max with eyefinity. From cold boot -> 30 loops passed. So that's the thrid time I've passed this benchmark in a row from a cold boot without a freeze.
What so special with those drivers ? Why 12.8 get's me up to 10-14 at MOST ( I mean that was the best result I had with them, usually it's 1-4) loops before hard lockup ? 12.6 passed 20 loops max, but I wasn't able to replicate the resutl, usually also 1-5 loops before lockup.
Cooling my room, and trying 40 loops now.

Right now I'm using my XFX BE bios flashed to all four cards, 2 XFX BE, 1 Sapph, 1 Diamond. To be honest it's nothing special, stock bios. I only use it so it's less work for Powerplay and AB to match clock speeds, no other reason.

RC11 is a great driver because it's one of the first drivers which means it has very little optimizations. Newer drivers have surpassed it for single and dual card setups. However, those newer drivers suck for tri/quads because RC11 is still the the speed king for tri/quad setups. The only thing I wish it had was eyefinity 2.0. Thus why I still try new drivers looking for eyefinity 2.0 features with RC11 stability and speed. Thus far I've not found it. Well, there's Cat 9 betas yet to try.

Thanks for the Bios, I'll be sure to check it out.

But unlike us you don't get hardlocks with other drivers ( 12.4, 12.6,12.8) with your quad + eyefinity is that correct ?

I get hardlocks with all drivers except RC11, 12.7 beta, and 12.8.

I just tried to play Eyefinity with trifire with the new 12.8 CAP2 (Maybe thinking it will help). Again, after 35 minutes of BF3 I got a Hardlock.

This week, I decided to play Quadfire on a single screen, I was able to play 2 hours until I got Hard Lock. I was shocked since I thought all crossfires were fine on a single screen. after that discovery I was despressed all evening long.
This makes me think, its a crossfire issue, it has nothing to do with eyefinity. We just don't test long enough I think.

I have no problem at all running any combinations of crossfire 2x, but I can't Trifire or quadfire. even on single screen. Its a COMMON issue, 79x0 series and crossfire is often discussed on every game forums. Long thread about the numerous Hard Lock.

I could play all evening long yesterday at Counter-Strike Global Offensive Eyefinity with single 7970.

That sounds like power degradation given your rigs history. It cant do quad, tri in eyefinity before, and now it can't do it single screen. Put two and two together. You need to get a ST1500 like me lol.

I am about to pull the trigger on a Maxrevo 1500W, but if this doesn't solve it, what do I do with the Revo?

Get the PSU from Amazon. Test it - return within 30 days if that wasn't the cause.
If that won't help then it's GPUs for sure....

You can easily test the PSU with a digital multi meter while running your stress test. You can pick one up at hardware store for cheap. Look for one with a min/max function. Monitor voltage at the connectors on MB or video card you can find pinout diagrams online.

I tested my AX1200 by monitoring min/max voltages. System crashes note down the min/max voltage. And redo the stress test with the next voltage. Do this for all the voltages.

A lot cheaper then swapping out a PSU they may have nothing wrong with. I am not a fan of swapping parts that are easy to test.
