**FIXED** Eyefinity, Quad fire 7970, CCC 12.8 (12.x) Crash (hang/freeze) Galore, What to do? **FIXED** - Page 34

Joining the thread to report that I've been experiencing the exact same problem since the 7970 launch. System details are as shown here.

Crossfire works with single monitor all day, Eyefinity works fine if crossfire is disabled, but with both enabled I get a hard lock with an audio loop as described elsewhere.

I've installed literally every production release of Catalyst since the launch drivers and a number of hacked up betas or whatever else I could get my hands on. I've reinstalled Win7 half a dozen times, swapped out a bunch of working components, and the results are always the same. Ditching my 3930k and X79 board to downgrade to Z77 is a non-starter. AMD appears to be aware of this issue, but I'm getting to the point where I might just ebay the 3 cards and switch myself back to NVIDIA, who at least appears to have their drivers in working order.

AMD, please get your situation together. It's been 10 months and only now have you even acknowledged the issue. Please, for the love of god, fix your busted drivers.

I'm thinking I may make the downgrade to Z77 only cause I need the 2x and 5x display support for projectors. Otherwise I would most definitely go back to Nvidia.

I don't know if it's comical or sad or both, but 12.11 got pulled shortly after release. What is up with their beta testing format??

We haven't released the official 12.11 yet. Someone leaked the driver, and that leak had some nasty geometry bugs in BF3, which we have corrected with a new DirectX DLL in the final version that will be posted today.

Therefore, it is neither comical nor sad. wink.gif

Wow....

After going through most of this thread, I don't know if I want to jump into xfire 7970's anymore redface.gif. Soooo much money to be put into this and then maybe get issues. Keep us updated OP.

I will wait a bit longer and wait for info. I think I may keep my 480's. thumb.gif

I just tested them out at max clocks and my power draw is a lil bit higher with these drivers. I recorded over 1820w at the wall lol. Previously I was around 1770w ish.

There's something up with these drivers because I can no longer bench at the clocks I could with 12.9 beta due to the rig drawing too much power and it's smacking up against the OCP/OVP. What the heck?

Any word on not crashing though?
I just went through today and updated my BIOS, Chipset drivers, network drivers, audio drivers, IRST drivers, and installed 12.11 (tested with unigine heaven, gained ~2-3 fps, which im guessing means theyve already optimized for unigine pretty well)
Hoping that changes something.
