Sure this isn't a RIVE Bios issue?

It's doubtful. Those of us early adopters were running this setup since release, from the 1xxx bios till now with the 3xxx bios. The strange thing is there is no definition to the problem. How do you know which cards, or which combos, or whatever the five? Nobody knows rofl. Is it really some myopic issue, needle in the haystack? Who knows...?

Its not a RIVE bios issue, some people encounter the issue with several x79 boards, different brands, ASUS, Gigabyte... And these persons even tried their SAME cards on a z77 platform...and the issue went away ??? tiredsmiley.gif

Its a x79 (or x58) + Crossfire + Eyefinity problem. And even I would say that some single monitor (x79 or x58 + crossfire) users had the hang too.

ATM I'm fine with my single monitor. Will connect up two other screens and test when I get the time and see what happens. But for me on single monitors it's running smoothly. Although before doing anything I had a good read of tsm's AMD how to thread, everything was smooth smile.gif

Off topic, loving my cards.

Gaming in eyefinity on one card = No lockup
Gaming on a single screen with crossfire = Lockup

TSM, are you running with any specific bios settings in place, and what kind of OC you running?
Is your 3930k a C1 or C2?
C2 here.

I run anywhere from 4.5ghz daily to 5ghz depending on how badly coded the game is, like gw2 would be a 5ghz profile boot.

That is strange, crossfire should work w/o a doubt on it's own. Have you tested each card individually? When crossfire doesn't work on it's own its usually points to bad card or some other underlying issue.

I was able to play any game except for JC2 on a single screen with crossfire before 12.11, and i was able to play BF3 in eyefinity+crossfire before 12.11
Now they both lockup. (crossfire single screen locked up on me in Dead Space)

I would like to point the AMD guys in this thread to a small understanding I have recently gained on this issue:

It's not just CrossfireX and it's not just EyeInfinity.
I can cause the same hangs I get with 2 cards on a single card setup by running 2 clients of the game EVE-online. This is the same kind of crash I get in BF3 and Total war.
(on 2 seperate and on one single monitor)

I have tried this with 3 seperate HD7950 cards. With one or multiple monitors connected.
On an X58 chipset, the system hangs if you run 2 clients of EvE for a certain amount of time.
On an old P965 chipset, I can run 2 clients forever with the same grafx cards. (also the 2 other games)

Also, I am 100% sure both base systems are stable. So the HD7950/X58 combo is to blame here.

EDIT: Could it be located in the Nvidia NF200 chip? as I have both an Asus and a EVGA 4way classified with that chip that are having the hangs. I have no X58mobo at my disposal without this chip so I cannot confirm if it is either the NF200 or the X58 chipset that is guilty
EDIT2: RIVE has no NF200 chip, so that's out

What driver were you using before? If 12.11 doesn't work well, why stick with it?
