Yeah but I won't be able to overclock as high on the ivy bridge chip right? because I am only using air cooling

So what do you guys think? Would I get more performance from the sandy or ivy bridge chip? My intention is to OC as high as possible with the air cooler I currently have.

And knowing myself I would have urges to remove the IHS on the ivy bridge and place the cooler on the bare chip because little things like that bother me (the thermal paste instead of fluxless solder :/ )

I've decided to get an i5-2500k, how about a SLI board? Is there anything cheaper than the asrock extreme4 but just as good?

if you just get the 2500k you could look for a z68 or p67 board for a good deal

couldn't i just get the asrock extreme3? its cheaper but whats the real difference?

I am selling some parts of this system, what I currently have in mind for the rig when I am done with it is:

CPU - i5-2500k
CPU Cooler - Hyper212+ (maybe something better in future)
RAM - 8GB Corsair vengeance DDR3 CL9, 2 x 4GB
Mobo - Asrock Z68 extreme3
GPU - 560 Ti (SLI later)
Internet - D-Link Extreme Wireless N DWA-556
PSU - Corsair TX650W
Sound - Onboard Audio (Selling Xonar DX)
Case - CM Storm Scout, getting a Corsair 600t White in future and giving the scout case to my brother.

That should be fine, I have a lot of those parts and they work great.
I know that the Extreme3 does x8/x8 SLI/CF.
