Do I need a second pump

Thread Starter
This is my 3rd liquid cooled setup but this one is the largest. In my loop I have 1 Swiftech MCP655-B pump, CPU block, 2 VGA blocks and 3 rads, the flow is so much less with this setup. This is my first time liquid cooling my graphics cards, im wondering if thats all just too much for just one pump?

You can try Martin's Flow Estimator Its getting pretty dated, but it may help. There is a new tool, his Pump Radiator Optimizer

What parts are you cooling and what type of radiators are you using?

I am asking because I feel pretty certain that you can fix the issue by getting rid of 1 radiator without seeing your temps go up more than 1 or 2 degrees.

If that is not the case, then it would be smart to get a cheap DDC pump and a reservoir top and just do 2 loops instead of 1.

A second pump will certainly help with your flow rate, and another big benefit is redundancy: one pump can fail but your loop powers on.

I would say yes if you can afford it, but if it's too much of a budget stretch, you could keep trying different routing configurations to see if you can improve the flow at all.

The two pumps needn't be identical, so even a $35 MCP350 from Bmaverick for $35 would be a good boost in flow for little cash outlay. Locate it halfway through the loop or so, prime it with the primary pump, and watch your flow go back up.

I went ahead and ordered a Swiftech MCP35X2, that otta do the trick. Thanks for the input. Hopefully by the end of the month my new fluid will come in the mail. I live in Turkey and it takes forever to get stuff here from the UK.
