No, it will put out less than a 660ti.

It will however put out more ppd than the 7950.

My grammar. It is awful.

Also, was kind of a joke. I am not even certain what the 7950s are fully capable yet, last I read, they are doing 5-9k ppd. While the last time I was folding on my 260, which was like 4-5 months ago, it was getting 8-12k ppd.

The nvidia 6 series cards can fold now? I remember reading that they did not work with fah because of a hardware change in kepler.

I don't know why but last time I remembered, NVIDIA cards tend to be better at folding. I don't know where I got this but based off that, I would get the 660ti.

FAH is much more optimized for CUDA as I recall. That's why it does so much better on nVidia cards.

My former roommate actually found that he got more PPD only using his Core i5 750 at 4 ghz than it is to dedicate a core to helping his 4850x2 fold. Folding on AMD GPUs takes up ~20% of a core for each AMD GPU used.

not sure what kind of numbers the 660Ti is putting down, but i cant imagine its less than the 7950.

My 670 does around 22k avg. The 660ti is the exact same card, with lower memory bandwidth. Which has pretty much nothing to do with folding on a gpu.

Like I said in the second post. Literally, a 4 year old nvidia card will out fold the 7950. The 260 will also, out fold the 7970. And most likely anything amd puts out for a long time.

Edit: Just like to mention, from everything I read the 7970's average around 8500-1100k ppd. Which is dismal at best.

Yeah, use the 660 Ti.

Quick search revealed a few sources for sub-10k PPD on the 7970: 1 2

In the future, hopefully they'll optimize a f@h core to take advantage of GCN, but for now, *shrug* stick with nvidia.

Another "Whats A Better Folder'' GPU : Galaxy 660ti 3GB or 7950?

Bought one of these a year ago for the shipping desk's computer back when I discovered the love and awesomeness of mech kybds and went on a buying spree for my business. OK, so we average about 10...
