Hello, good to be here!

Decided to start a new rig, upgrading from my Dell XPS 435mt. I can not wait to receive my new rig, because its going to make my XPS 435mt look like a joke. Big bulky Dell case makes for terrible cooling. It was pretty quick anyhow with its i7 920 @ 2.67GHz but still it was time for a new rig. So I started a build and am now waiting on the build. Specs are as follows:


ASUS Sabertooth Z77
Intel i7 3770K @ 4.5GHz
Corsair H100 Liquid Cooling
Corsair 8GB Vengeance 1866MHz
ATi 2GB Radeon HD 7870
OCZ Vertex 64GB SSD
Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 7.1
24x LG DVD & CD-RW Drive
Antec 650w EarthWatt 80Plus Certified
Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit


Its being built right now. I keep being told that I should've used the i7 920 and such but that was an old rig and needed an up-to-date rig. So thats it!

I would change them to the following:

1. Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 (because it is cheaper and your OC results won't differ)
2. Video card: nVidia GTX660 Ti (the new kid on the block; get a factory OCed version with a great cooler)
3. RAM: Samsung MV-3V4G3D/US (overclocks like crazy! can possibly hit 2400MHz CL11)
4. SSD: Samsung 830 series 128GB (most reliable)
5. Audio: Stick with onboard or get an Asus Xonar DX (I would stay away from Creative)
6. PSU: Get a higher quality (90 plus gold or platinum) 500W (you don't need 650W)
7. CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme (runs quieter and does better with cooling)

1. ASRock is getting better, but still doesn't have me satisfied as ASUS does. Warranty and legendary quality/reliability of ASUS wins.
2. nVidia 660Ti vs ATi 7870, I'm still looking into but so far performance numbers are marginal for the nVidia
3. Sold on the Corsair Vengeance
4. SSDs are more reliable than HDDs, and never had an HDD fail yet, so I am good with the OCZ Vertex 3
5. Had SoundBlaster before and liked it.
6. 650W is later on CrossFire
7. So far I read its the same as an H100, not sure about the better cooling though. But quality-wise Corsair is better from reviwers

I would change the SSD to either a Corsair Force 3, GT or GS(GS only comes in capacity's of 180GB or above but Force 3 and GT I believe have 60-128GB models
