.Currently I have a rather large media library, with something abourd 3000 movies and TV shows that need to be converted into MP4V for my AppleTV.

Right now things are setup with a 24" iMac as the primary server, and a secondary 21" iMac which is used for NFS. Both of these machines do the conversion tasks. Even then it takes some time. So what I am working on right now is creating a VM to run handbrake and use for conversion as well.

Reason?

When I am gamng, I don't want to be bothered to stopped. So if I have a VM going that can be remote adminstrated without having to disturb the rest of my machine, that is perfect. Right now I am getting things going with a VM of Ubuntu 12.04 in VirtualBox. From there I got to either setup Samba or get NFS to work and handbrake going along with some form of remote management software (teamviewer).

So much fun....

You want to encode in handbreak in a vm

? you will see a huge hit in performace if you do that xD (i think)

I'm sure he will. It would make more sense to run handbrake on his bare metal OS.

I'd also expect that running handbreak over NFS would kill performance too.

I am thinking of building a kick ass encoding machine... VM crashed and burned last night crashing my computer with it. XD

Probably going to build a really cheap box and thrown linux on it.

I was downloading a few things at the same time running my VM... my network driver crashed XD

Also VM is running on my sig rig... it is not a bare metal machine. Planning on building dedicated box later this year.

Your VM host must be a bare metal machine. That is unless you meant that you have a VM running inside a VM?

I think he means in somthing like vmware opposed to a just hypervisor thingi,

Picked these up for my TRON Legacy theme build. Got the optional light bar upgrade kit(s). Note, for a quad channel package you will need two light bar kits as each covers two sticks. No issues...
