How to enable remote service on your new PC!
Highspeed Connection

This How To is designed to get you started you will need to input your own information in order to connect this how to gives you the ability to get said information.

PART 1.......................

1. Click "Start"

2. Click "Run"

3. Type "cmd"

4. Hit the "Enter" key

5. Type "ipconfig" in the terminal window

6. Look for "Default Gateway"

7. Write down the number, it will look like this
192.168.*.* with the * replaced with the correct numbers. Default is 192.168.1.1

8. Type "exit"

9. Hit the "Enter" key


PART 2.........................


Now that you have you default gateway address you can enter your router by opening your web browser and enter your default gateway address.

You will be prompted for a user name and password.

Many vendors use Admin or Administrator as the username and something like "admin" or "password" as the password.
It is vital that you change this ASAP or you will leave yourself very vulnerable. Refer to your owners manual or isp provider
to resolve this issue or contact a professional.

Since routers vary from model to model you may need to contact your isp in order to do the next few steps or visit
http://www.portforward.com/routers.htm find your router and follow the steps for "VNC"

If you still having problems please call your isp or a professional do not poke around in your router.

Moving on.............

Now download VNC from......

http://www.realvnc.com/download.html

1. Install VNC
once installed continue to step 2.

2. Click "Start"

3. All Programs

4. RealVNC

5. VNC Server 4 (User-Mode)

6. Click "Run VNC Server"
An icon will appear on your task bar in the lower right hand corner that will say "VNC"

7. With your mouse double left click "VNC Icon"

8. Click "Configure"

9. Enter a password you will remember, this is the password you will need to give/use to connect remotely to your pc.

10. Repeat steps 1 - 4 in PART 2

11. VNC Viewer 4

12. Click "Run Listening VNC Viewer"

There you go your set up. This setup is best because it allows you to access another PC or have your PC accessed remotely and it is secure.

Besure when you require remote service to start "Run VNC Server" in user mode.

The Client "Person who's pc you are controlling" can always terminate the session at any time. You can do alot of damage to someones pc and get a ton of info, its crucial your professional when remoting a Clients PC.

HaHa the things you see on ppl's PC's when repairing them WOW !!!!!!

Yeah im aware of that, i use VNC alot at work.
A wise thing to do is to set a VNC Password Authentication so that it would require anyone trying to access your machine to have a password. this can be done by right clicking the vnc icon on the system try then selecting the bullet next to "VNC Password Authentication" and clicking on Configure. Type in the password twice and you're set

Oh yea its great for work and home networks but how good is it over the web, there are alot of products out there but you have to pay for them this is a handy utility because it is free. I am going to take my laptop to a wi-fi spot and see if I can remote my server and see if my server can remote my laptop if it works I'll package VNC with all the PC's I build for customers along with the above tutorial.
