Used wrong SATA port (solved)

Thread Starter
Hey, I just realized that I plugged my two harddrives into the non-6Gb/s ports on my motherboard so I was wondering if I can turn my computer off, take the sata cables out and plug them into the 6Gb/s ports without having to reinstall the OS?

My system is in my sig rig.

you can do such thing, doesn't matter the port your data should stay in your drives.

I don't see how that could harm your PC (or you needing to reinstall your OS)

I'd say yes you can however, if they are mechanical HDD not SSD, then whats the point? They are already slower than SATA 3GB speed so you aren't going to see any change in performance. Even mechanical HDD's that claim are 6GB drives are not, its just marketing. The only way to move that much data is with an SSD.

EDIT: I just looked, you say your drives are in RAID 0.... that may be a problem if you move them.
