I just switched my mobo and processor...

Thread Starter
from an A8N-SLI deluxe to a DFI Ultra-D and
from a 3500+ to a Opty 165

the computer booted up, no problems and i didn't even reformat my harddrive and do a fresh install of windows...

should i still do a fresh install or just be glad that everything works?

Be glad everything works. With Windows XP, you shouldn't have any issues with doing such a swap. Nice upgrade though! If you're interested in selling your old components, I think i have a client that would be interested. PM Me.

Be thankful Sometimes Windows XP will port to a new system without too much complaining, other times you'll get a BSOD and have to wipe it and start over. It ultimately depends on the hardware differences.

OK...for some reason...last night, temps were at 34 degrees at idle...this morning i decided to unrar a game and saw the temps reach up to 67 degrees. wht the hell?!

i'm using a thermaltake venus w/ AS5 for cooling...isn't this sufficient?
