Gigabyte Windforce is the cheapest, but yet in my opinion has the best cooling.

Sapphire Toxic is not really worth it IMO. As I said what you want is GHz edition with good cooling like a Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition Vapor-X 3GB for example.

Edit: But paying 70$ extra might not be worth. It really depends on how hard you are going to over clock it and how much you value the little extra boost in FPS.

I wasn't talking about the Toxic version, there is no way I am getting it. I do not see a reason really.
I will go for a GHz edition, just not sure which one right now.
The Gigabyte GHz edition is out of stock in every store I checked in Canada, so I will have to either go for the Vapor-X or for the Gigabyte OC.
And as I said my budget is around 550$, I want to find the best video card for that price with the highest OC potential.

Oh my bad. There wasn't Vapor-X in the links you posted so I thought you meant the Toxic. If the Vapor-X is a GHz edition then its a better choice then the Gigabyte OC otherwise doupt there is much difference in how high you can clock them.

I did some googleing and I still can't find out if ther even is a non GHz edition of the Vapor-X cooled 7970 headscratch.gif

The Vapor-X uses higher quality parts that are binned, basically hand selected. I am pretty sure the Windforce is the same as well, and I am not sure on the Visiontek. I only mentioned the Visiontek because of warranty length.

OP just a suggestion. You could get a Sapphire HD 7950 950 Mhz edition. comes with a HD 7970 PCB. DUAL BIOS feature for aggressive overclocking. very good cooler. newegg user reviews are very positive. 1150 Mhz - 1200 Mhz with this card is achievable with voltage tweaking. frankly the best value for your money imo. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. Are you sure you want to pay USD 120 extra for atmost 5% at same clocks and maybe 10 - 12% assuming the HD 7970 Vapor-X hits 1250 Mhz. Also your monitor is 1080p which means even the most demanding games like BF3 will be able to run at 60 fps on the overclocked HD 7950 beyond which your monitor is not going to show any difference as its a 60 Hz monitor. think about it. thumb.gif

Well I do plan on adding an extra monitor this Thursday. And another one next year.
Also from what I have seen there is around 10% to 15% performance gap on stock clocks between the two cards.
7950 at the 7970 clocks is around 3%-6% slower.
And if I overclock the 7970, that gap is even higher.

Assuming you get 1150 Mhz and your HD 7970 Vapor-X does 1250 Mhz even then the performance difference will be atmost 10% If your Sapphire HD 7950 does 1200 Mhz that performance gap would be lesser.
