Crossfire 6970 with Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo II, First card runs pretty hot

So basically I just got Sleeping Dogs for PC and wow its fun, but runs my 6970s up the wall.

Basically the first card runs around 91 91 94 and 102 for the respective thermal diode ts0 ts1 ts2 marks during gameplay
This is with all fans on my RV02 on max and the GPU coolers at max :/. Thinking it might just be a crappy paste application on my part.

I knew Xfire would suffocate card one but man that is hot.

EDIT: IT is also around 29 30C in my room so yea >< that could probably be it as well. fricking summer

I tried using some ZALMAN VF3000A on my 5850's a while back. A single card with this on it would run on load ~65C.
If I had another card under it or anything blocking the air intake from below, the temp would jump to ~90C.

With my new 6870 in CF, I will be trying out the Antec Kuhler H2O 620 method.

It just seems that there's no good air cooling solutions in CF.. especially when you have a high ambient temp.
that is a possiblity what thermal grease did you use. that seams high as hell i have an average of 23 to 24c for ambient for my unlocked shaders 6950 and i hit a top of 70c when i play bf3 for about one long 1000 ticket server

i would suggest either replacing the tim it might not be enough since it needs to cover the whole thing chip i have not idea how it is getting that hot

for xfire i would see lower temps then a single card due to the fact the the load will be distributed to both cards. so it should be a few degrees lower. when i mean a few like 3 to 5C tops

Lower? What? I though crossfire temps are always higher than with a single card...? You have 2 heat sources there so it should heat stuff up pretty nicely, especially the top card should run at higher temps.

Uhh the hot air from the first gets dumped to the second making it into a little inferno.
I decided to just drill holes in the side panel window for 2x120mm fans to push in cooler air so the first card isnt starved.
Just gotta to get home depot for some acrylic cuz i accidently cracked the side panel window that came with the case xD

Having two cards will increase the overall temps of all your hardware. You have another piece of HW making more heat. Going to two cards you really need to look into increasing the air flow in your case. I would also look at the TIM application and make sure its not applied incorrectly. Im running stock coolers on my cards and normally don't see temps north of around 65C. I do have custom fan profiles running too.

Yea Iuno about my 6970s :/. Both of mine usually idle at 6x with the stock coolers doing simple browser and youtube videos. I decided to get aftermarket coolers cuz the fan started to become a turbine ><. As for TIM application. i used tuniq tx 2 and tx 4. musta applied it like 5 times just to make sure I didnt accidently apply it wrong.
I plan on just adding more fans to add to the airflow. Hopefully cooler air from the side will mitigate the problem. Lets hope I dont crack the acrylic this time around ><.

EDIT: Sleeping Dogs is the only game that runs my cards up the wall. Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3 max don't nearly push it as hard as this ><. I usually see 8x tops for those games
