I had a question in mind regarding my will to upgrade my GPU (again). I have had the same rig for a good amount of time. It served me well, but one thing that I always did was change the graphics card. I went through a GT 210 (Which came with it) to a GT 240, to a GTX 280, then I joined the ATI family with my 5870. And now I plan to buy a Gigabyte 7970 OC edition ( With the 3 fans).
My Specs are:
PSU: Mercury ATX 180 / 1200w
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5 GHZ
Cooling: I forgot what is the manufacturer of the fan, but is a aftermarket heatsink and a fan for the CPU. Not the stock one.
RAM: 3GB DDR3 1333
Will my CPU, and/or Ram bottleneck the 7970?
*Note: The Cpu is not overclocked, would that be necessary? I have read that overclocking a Q8300 is not a wise decision. Specially that I have never done this before.
Thanks for everyone who took the time to read through my unnecessary wall of text. I cherish this community, and forums for the amount of help and intelligence that goes through the boards.

yea but if the game you play works well, why worry?

Well... I am not worried, just afraid that my $500 investment went to waste and would force me into more upgrades.

My 7970 did not arrive as of now. But it should in a couple of days ( a week on max)

Will I be able to max out Batman: AC, and BF3 at max settings on 1920x1080?

I really dont care if I dont get the 79 FPS if I had a i7, I just want to be able to run all games ( Except Metro) at max settings at ~60 FPS average. Would it be possible with my Q8300?

Thanks for your time and help everyone.

I can say that my 7970 has been very good in my FX-8120 rig and according to most people at Overclock.net the FX sucks! I am running a 3x Asus 27" monitors in an Eyefinity and am able to still get a very good fps at 1080p max/ultra. I can't rely say much on the intel CPU since I have not used intel since the Pentium 3 well mostly. I do have a intel i5 2500k with an Nvidia 560ti but it is just for friends when they come over and it does not perform near as good as my FX rig a lot of stutter in some games. Just noticed I have not update my rigbuilder as I still have my 6950's on there instead of the 7970.
