1300+ Watt Platinum PSU's? - Page 5

No, and stop suggesting that... there are units currently on the market that can deal with that just fine, he already uses one of them. Keep in mind those are peak values and not continuous loads (he's not running Kombustor 24/7 or mining 24/7 on that system).

It's pulling 1800w from the wall fairly consistently just playing BF3 lol. I think I may hit over 2K watt if I ran something like Furmark. Not going to try it though, needless stress. I'd certainly like the Nex but the EVGA competition winners still don't have them yet. It could be many weeks before this thing is purchasable and in the end might not have as high of efficiency numbers under such high loads as the Lepa.

Also knowing EVGA they've made about five of them in the first batch and unless you spend your life living on the EVGA page and purchase one within the first 30 seconds you won't be able to get one for months. Not having a pre-order system is just idiotic.

If you're absolutely convinced you need more (if it will make you sleep better), get a Capstone 550-650W (for like 80$) and feed two of the cards with it... there's really no reason to spend 300$+

Just wait a few days before making your decision, ok?

That Thermaltake 1475W is the biggest Platinum unit I know of.

I need to point out that sometime under stress it does a small tickling sound just like Coil whine from a GPU capacitor. I only hear it if my head is close to the PSU and this never happen.

Seems to be a side effect of the platform - my Maxrevo 1500W sample made that noise, too.
