I put an 1156 CPU in an 1155 socket--Oops? - Page 2

Pull CMOS battery and power plug for a bit, then try again. I had a friend that did the same thing not knowing 1155 and 1156 were different. He had an Asus board and it acted similarly, but it worked fine after like 10 minutes with the battery out.

The notches are not in the same spot. Try fitting a 1156 socket protector in a 1155 socket- the notches (which are in the same place as a real CPU) will not line up.
