HDD Help :p

Thread Starter
I built a gaming pc, (specs below) and I need help choosing a new storage solution. I have 2 HDDs' I salvaged but the are dying! I can reinstall windows because I just built the PC then noticed the problems I made. It is horrendously slow to boot and to load programs. The HDD makes sounds CONSTANTLY and I keeps saying i've run out of room when I know I haven't. What is the fastest/most reliable HDD/SSD setup under 150ish, preferably lower.

FYI the current HDDs' are an old Samsung SpinPoint sata 1 7200RPM and a WD 5400 RPM 2005 laptop HDD lolz...
So.... What do I do?

Well, I use a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB as my data and games and my Crucial M4 64GB as my boot drive. The HDD isn't the fastest, but it's very reliable and decently fast for it's price. The Crucial, on the other hand, is a super fast ssd. Probably the best bang for your buck. I highly recommend it.

Both are 70 dollars each.

Thanks for the advice, I found these:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136770
and for the boot drive:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227725

I think that is enough storage but I am open to different options/brands

Eh, those aren't the greatest. The blue drive is slow, but it's probably not a big deal for an HDD.. That OCZ isn't that great. For 10 bucks more, you get one of the fastest SSDs on the market. OCZ cannot compare to the speeds of the Crucial drives.

In all honestly, don't cheap out. I think these are the most important components to not cheap out on in a build. You'll regret it later when you realize "Oh man I could've had such a better setup if I spent 10-30 dollars more. Don't cheap out. Extend your budget a little bit.
