sound loop and computer crash

Thread Starter
about 2 month ago i got a bsod loop. i thought the easiest thing to do was to wipe everything out, and restart. which worked for a few weeks. it happened to crash again, this time i wasnt getting any blue screens. just a sound loop and my computer would restart(either automatically or manually).

in event viewer it looked like it was my antivirus was causing the crash, so i uninstalled it. the only reason i thought it was the antivirus, was that it would load a file for it. and at the exact same time it would crash. and that seemed to work for about a week. but it crashed again.

i thought maybe i installed the wrong driver, because i have a gigabyte z68x-ud3h-b3 rev 1 board and they also have a rev 3. and seeing that i just wiped it out, i wasnt going to be missing any files.
so i decided to wipe it out once again. this time double checking that i had all the right drivers. i thought that fixed it, because it didnt have any problems for about 2 weeks. but sure enough it crashed 2 times this week.

im almost positive it has to do with flash. both time i was watching youtube videos. after the first time i looked up the issue on google. and someone said to turn off hardware acceleration. that didnt work.

i am using google chrome (version 21.0.1180.75 m).

things i have tried:
1. update bios
2. run memtest
3. reinstall windows

my computer doesnt seem to crash during games. only listening to music or watching videos. temperatures seem to be fine.

Ok, so you do have a problem and now we need to know which component(s) is causing the crashes.

Download 'Sandra SiSoftware'
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/SiSoftware-Sandra.shtml

Click the 'Benchmarks' tap then 'Overall score' and begin benchmarking. It will somewhat stress all of your components.

If that passes, click the 'Tools' tap then 'Burn-In'...... then update us.

edit: remove any overclocking if you haven't already.

so your problem may not be as bad as expected. Load optimal Settings in Bios and re-run Prime95, click custom and change the amount of memory to 3000 MB. (since you have 4 gig)

you have a memory issue which was not detected by memtest, normal if you started memtest from inside Windows.
Just to be sure, remove two sticks of RAM (slot 2 & 4 or 1 & 3) so you're still in Dual channel mode and rerun the Prime95 test.

My bad, that would be Single channel mode.

remember to disconnect the power cable before removing or adding anything to your pc.
