Graphic card compatibility doubt?

So I had my mind pretty much set for HD 7770 but now thinking that it is Pcie 3.0 I am worried whether my a little older motherboard would handle it.
Mobo: Intel DG41RQ (Has Pcie x16 slot)

Source: http://ark.intel.com/products/3968 [...] ard-DG41RQ

While Intel official site does state that the version of Pcie slot is 2.0 (I guess 2.x means 2.0 right?)

Some other sites and the box that my motherboard came in state just it has Pcie x16 slot and does not specify which version.
Like another source from intel: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17 [...] odSpec.pdf
I searched around the web alot looking for an answer and came across a software that could identify the Pcie details and many other details of the system in a much detailed manner.
I dont know if you guys know about PC Wizard 2012 (Created by the same makers of popular CPUz)
Even the software stats I have Pcie 2.0 x16.

What do I do? Should I make the purchase?

As far as I am concerned, some LGA 775 chipsets like G31, G33, G41, P35 have PCI-e 1.1 x16. PCI-e 2.0 and 3.0 cards are backward compatible, so you won't have any problem using them on your G41 motherboard.

You should be fine with it. If you're currently running a dedicated graphics card, and your motherboard isn't too old, it will likely have pci-e 16x support. If you're really that concerned open up the case and have a look at the slot itself, it should be fairly long with a clip at the end (roughly from the one end of your motherboard to around the first ram slot in length). And PCI-E 3.0 and 2.0 are backwards compatible so you will be fine.

I know that my Motherboard has Pcie x 16 slot.
I am using a Nvidia Geforce 8400GS currently.
Just that I am unsure if it is 1.0 or 2.0
So if it turns out it is Pcie x16 1.0 will HD 7770 be compatible with it?
