I notice a difference between my games that run at 60 fps and ones that run at 100+. LoL for instance runs for me at 110 fps while Deus Ex hovers at 60ish. The movement in LoL is soooo much smoother to me and it just "feels" better. Not saying Deus Ex isn't smooth, just that I can see a difference especialy under heave action.

Yes, well when you can see the FPS your mind likes to play tricks on you.

When I see an overlay on metro 2033 that says 20FPS it looks like stop motion to me. In the exact same scene and position without an FPS overlay, it looks almost good.

You're weird, how can it be smooth at 20FPS when you can't see the actual framerate, and it be choppy when you can?

That 144hz screen is too big, 27", with just 1080P looks like crud close up compared to 1440P.

I know why it does it to you. You're Homer. lachen.gif

This is you...

Honestly, if you are running at 30FPS, it's the same even if you can see the Framerate with something like Fraps.

Currently 120Hz is the standard and apart from the 144Hz Asus VG278HE i can't see it changing anytime soon since there isn't a need for higher. You also need to consider the hardware requirements to benefit 120Hz+ screens. For big titles like BF3 etc getting over 60FPS in a 64player MP map @1080p Ultra 4xMSAA etc is no easy feat, SLI and TRI SLI is required to push the ideal 100FPS+ FPS on Ultra everything.

I wouldn't call 120Hz standard, 60hz is way more common, but I agree, there really is no need for such a high refresh rate, unless you have unlimited money or something thinking.gif

Indeed and if your going surround @ 5760x1080 with 3x 120Hz displays, i don't think even my rig could manage 100FPS+ on the more intensive titles. Sad but true......

Btw, anyone wanna buy some GTX680's? I'm thinking of selling up and trying something different.

To answer your other question... not many people notice a difference above 60FPS. In fact most of the people that do, it's probably placebo.
There are no 1000000000Hz monitors. You probably mean 1000Hz or kilohertz. Those TV create the additional frames via interpolation.

It's not quite placebo....
