Help finding the right VRM cooling for my 955 Phenom

Thread Starter
I was told I need to have VRM cooling in my computer before I OC my processor. I've looked through some of the VRM guides but didn't understand any of them. I need to know what I need to buy and how to install it.

Thanks

You need to get a hold of these - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011

Or you cold always place an active fan over the VRMs.

Have you had a look at this guide? - http://www.overclock.net/a/about-vrms-mosfets-motherboard-safety-with-high-tdp-processors

don't recommend going over 3.8ghz on that board. but yeah, grab those vrm heatsinks, slap a fan right above them.

I have the same board, call Gigabyte they will send you the vrm heat sink they have on the version 1.4 for free.

Which motherboard revision do you have?

r1.3 has VRM heatsinks

http://www.overclock.net/t/946407/amd-motherboard-vrm-information-list

Easiest way to cool them is with a downdraft cpu cooler like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103100 along with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835708011 like Punkx said:thumb:

I called Gigabyte. They said rev. 1.0 doesn't have/need a heatsink.

I called them on Fri. and they told me one would be in the mail to me by Tue. Maybe try again for a different rep?

At stock? it probably doesn't need one, and it certainly doesnt come with one. But if you would like to OC a 125w cpu you SHOULD atleast use a downdraft CPU cooler and preferably get some sinks for your VRMS
