[IG] Interview: Diablo Creator David Brevik Discusses His Feelings on Diablo 3 - Page 4

That's dramatically incorrect, actually.

The real difference between the two is their emphasis.

D2 was a single player game that could be played on-line.

D3 is a multiplayer game that can be played in single player.

There's a DRAMATIC difference between the emphasis of those 2 games and that's part of the current feud that's now risen between them.

There's also a tremendous amount of insider drama that's not represented here so, you're literally only seeing 1 side of the debate and about 2% of that 1 side.

The game dev. world is a very small world and David's game didn't fail because they were bad, they failed, in good part, due to the feud.

D3 was a "success" only because it has Blizzard on the box...Take away Blizzard, how many of you would've purchased it? ~ Same is true of Brevik's creations.

The reality is that none of you really know the entire situation so, you're passing judgement on about 1% of the entire issue...I personally don't think this thread belongs here at all but, that's just me.

played d1 and 2 from start to finish. wouldn't touch d3 with a stolen... pen. my opinion on the original 2 still remains that they are untouchable in terms of gameplay and fun factor, and completely revolutionized MMO's to date. sad that they're trying to bank off of d3 as much as possible.

Rise of Nations and the closing of Big Huge Games.
Empire Earth and the closing of Stainless Steel Studios.
Once great games that can never have great squeals because the key people are gone. So sad.

However.... this comment is only about half correct. Diablo 3 is a fantastic sequel... >_> So just because nothing else has been announced, you're gonna assume that it's done? Man... Guess you were right about Diablo 2 then huh? No sequel came for that game. rolleyes.gif (If you can't catch what I'm hinting at, Adria is still walking around. wink.gif )

Oh and this?
Tiberian Sun: Firestorm ---> C&C 3 ---> C&C 3: Kane's Wrath - Producers were the Westwood team that had been incorporated into EA.

Yet, on that same note, C&C 4 wasn't made by anyone in the Westwood team and it still sit there, stagnating in the sewers of every gamer's hell.

wait you beat inferno in your second week? i thought no one was able to get past ACT II Inferno until blizz patched it? And they definitely didnt patch the game in two weeks -___-

I think it was possible before the patch when DH still had longer SS and monks had that crazy hp regen skill.

Hey David Brevik, why don't you go bankrupt another company with your amazing Hellgate London & Mythos ideas!!
Oh, and David didn't design the fun version of D2. Nope that was Peter Brevik. David designed the crappy version of D2 that was released and was absolutely hated by reviewers and Diablo fans in general. It was Peter Brevik who designed the expansion and all of the changes that made D2 fun and the game everyone talks about.

ummm no...not even close.

Plenty of people played D2 from release and it was amazing...Dont even compare the 2 games qualities based on release length...that is just plain ignorant.

It wasn't impossible. Some people did it by bypassing champion packs, for others they played classes that could solo well like the DH. Smoke Screen pre-nerf when used with other abilities, could keep you out of combat for 18 seconds which was plenty of time to kill a champion pack.

I for one will never, ever pre-order another Blizzard game and will definitely be boycotting any games by Jay Wilson.
