Just picked up an EVGA GTX 670...what's the real scoop on this card?

I apologize up front for being all giddy like a little school girl, but I was in a Bargain Hunt and was looking through all the electronics garbage they sell and like a diamond in the rough the EVGA GTX 670 sat staring at me at a price so good it would have been appalling to walk out without it. The box was torn up and worn but inside was EVERYTHING. The card is brand new and came with the stickers, connectors, poster, driver disk, etc etc. I looked at a couple forums and saw where some folks are having trouble with them crashing their systems but is this card really that bad? It's the 02g-p4-2670-kr. I've run 5 EVGA cards and never had an issue. Who knows what the deal is with this thing?

There are always going to be people who get crashes but for me nVidia's drivers have become more stable over the years. If there is a newer version of drivers on nVidia's web site, use them instead of what came with the GPU.

I'd be giddy. Screw the packaging, lol.

No doubt. Thanks for the reassurance. I've never had trouble with my evga cards. Hell I'm just now graduating from the 280's I bought new and I've put them through hell daily.

Damn real, they can hit over 70c and be like "What? Is it warm in here or something?" and can still play Battlefield 3 on Medium at 25-60fps. I can't wait to pop this thing in and turn everything up band.gif

thats a nice card man. i love nvidia videocards because i never had any serious issues with them and they have never let me down with performance. every single nvidia gpu i had met my expectations and at times surpased them. i did burn two gtx285 cards when they were about a year old. they were vmoded tho.

The GTX 670 is a beast of a card and will no no problems maxing out BF3. Nvidia drivers are TOP imo and you will not be upset with your purchase. Now I am wondering tho. Where did you find the 670, How much did you pay & if the card does not work is it returnable? Sorry just wondered

You should be able to max BF3 settings with a 670. You wont be able to maxx the AA settings but the card will def run more then medium

Thanks man. The card is in my rig and is literally making my adrenaline rush. I haven't seen a graphics jump like this since my first GTX 280 and Oblivion lol yessir.gif I really don't want to be the locomotive on a hater train but I picked up the card at a local wholesale electronics store for $215. Best day of my computer-building life. 30 day return policy and I'm fairly certain I can register the warranty with EVGA. I hope. Checking on that now.
