[AI] Apple witness builds Fidler tablet replica to disprove prior art claims

Quote:
An Apple expert witness on Friday brought out a detailed recreation of the Fidler tablet concept in an effort to disprove Samsung's claims of prior art against the iPad.

In a somewhat surprising move, designer Peter Bressler brought out the replica when he was called to the stand for the second time on Friday as testimony in the Apple v. Samsung trial came to a close.

As noted by CNet, the reproduction was different than other exhibits seen during the case, including a number of phones and tablets presented by both parties to bolster their claims. Perhaps even more interesting is that Apple presented the Fidler concept recreation in testimony rather than Samsung.

Make it end.

This can just as easily prove that the Galaxy tab and iPad have enough differences that they can be easily distinguished.

Ok seriously. OCN is losing credibility now. Do we really need a new damn thread every time there's a new development on the SAME DAMN NEWS TOPIC?

If ya'll didn't read and constantly bump these sorts of threads they wouldn't come up so much. Blame yourselves if you don't like apple vs whoever news.
Lol like 30% of the threads are now on Apple vs Sammy.

I don't really get what this article means though.

I don't really get what Apple is trying to do. The article makes sense. Apple's argument does not.
Quote:
According to Bressler the Fidler tablet varies significantly from the tablet depicted in Apple's design patent. In his testimony on Friday, Bressler pointed to the fact that the glass on the front of the Fidler did not go edge to edge like on the iPad, and that the Fidler had cutouts for memory cards and a stylus.

Doesn't Samsung tablets have a spot for memory cards and some even use a stylus. The only Samsung devices that don't use memory cards are the nexus which is one of the phones they are going after because it can search itself. If I am understanding Apple correctly I believe that by disproving the prior art argument that Samsung used they also disproved that Samsung copied them. If something as small as a memory card cut out can be seen as a key difference then we are clearly stating that in order for Apple to have copied that design with it's patent it has to be exactly the same which the Samsung devices in question are not.

Regardless of what side of us are on we all have to agree that these two companies are making complete fools of themselves in court. As I see it, in this move Apple just handed Samsung the very argument that they were trying so hard to win.

There needs to be a new section called Apple vs Samsung, and then create a new rule disallowing Samsung vs Apple news thread, which will instead be posted in the new section.

What we really need is for a third Party to Assimilate Apple and Samsung into a Collective creating a super monopoly that can buy out aggressors.
