Have a look at the benchmarks I provided

You posted benchmarks from the old HD7970 clocked low and with old drivers thumb.gif

I recommend getting the HD7970 over the GTX670.

again if you look at games like starcraft II and battlefield 3, ultra quality and 4xMSAA the 670 still pulls forward.

That is true. (Atleast in Anandtech's benchmarks). Which is why we need to know what games the OP plays.

It's the MSAA and the AA where the nvidia cards tends to perform better than the ATI cards.

Still, the 7970 pulls ahead too much of a margin over the 670 without AA to make it worth getting a 670 (which does better with AA) over 7970.

OP was asking about the Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz Vapor-X card and you have compared a HD 7970 (925 mhz) . very convenient.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Point_Of_View/GeForce_GTX_680_TGT_Ultra_4_GB/28.html

perf summary

GTX 670 - 88
HD 7970 (925 ) - 90
GTX 680 - 95
HD 7970 Ghz - 98
GTX 680 TGT (1110 / 1176 boost) - 100

HD 7970 Ghz is the fastest card out there. These cards with voltage overclocking can do 1200+ Mhz speeds and are faster than overclocked GTX 680.

its the other way around. AMD HD 7970 does better at higher levels of anti aliasing like 4x / 8x MSAA .

Here is a bench from the GHz edition and the 670...

This site also shows that the regular 7970 was better than the 680

Thanks very much for the many replies.

The thing is I'm currently selling my card on e-bay so if i hit the £320 mark than I will buy a GTX 680(MSI Lightning) if anything lower than that I buy the 7970(MSI Lightning). I have a £150 budget to spend on so It will be one or the other.

In the benchmarks both cards are brilliant and to be honest in between 75 and 78 fps(just an example) if you can tell the difference because there is only a few fps difference in between the 2 cards I'll eat my own hat biggrin.gif. I play all my games in 1920x1080 and at this resolution both cards running everything flawless.

I dont think I will be dissapointed with any of these cards.

Thanks for the replies again, helped a lot biggrin.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifbiggrin.gif
