Anyone using c-states with an overclock? - Page 2

For some stupid reason an update of the BIOS of my board prevents me from using CnQ with modified voltage values.

It sucks big time, because I love the feature. I used it all the time.

You don't need to have 'cool n quiet' enabled to use c-states.

Maybe I should have named this thread 'anyone stable at 4.0ghz or more using offset voltages?'

I've read that you should adjust the LLC until the BIOS vCore is the same as CPU-Z vCore. Thats what I did. I used offset voltage and I think I left everything else except VTT. I'll have to check.

Interesting, thanks. LLC makes changes to the 'idle / load voltage range' and it seems like the goal is to have enough voltage to boot (idle) without having more voltage than necessary at load.

I discovered something else very interesting too.....auto offset does not equal .0000 +/-.......it scales with the multiplier (hope that made sense). I was pulling my hair out over that one. rolleyes.gif

I've got 4.0 stable and I'm working my way up, I'll post up how I'm doing it if anyone is interested.

Understand that if are using manual voltage setting LLC is not going to take the voltage over the setting you have set

ok....my manual voltage overclocks are fine, just trying to get a c-state profile that works (my psu will thank me).

Just thought of something funny....testing stability at idle voltage is a new and exciting challenge. tongue.gif

I Myself use LLC (High 75%) with Manual voltages, It's more stable than Offset.

If you have C1E and CnQ enabled whilst using Manual voltages, the CPU will still underclock, but the Voltages will still be the same, it won't undervolt automatically.

I haven't noticed any differences using my Watt meter on the wall, maybe 2-4 Watts more on Idle but that's nothing.

The other downside is that I have higher Idle tempatures (Previous 29-30C, now it's 32-34C)

Right now I'm running offset +.0625 @ 4ghz with no LLC and c-states are working great, my load voltage is 1.380 as opposed to 1.325 with my manual overclock, but with LLC off temps are WAY better, I may even be able to raise my multiplier.

Pretty happy about that. smile.gif
