G400, Spawn, Kova or something else - Page 2

I wouldn't get the Spawn if I were you.
It definitely doesn't work for fingertip, it's really a claw mouse, just too freaking wide for fingertipping.

I like are optical, heavy, rubberized, solid build. But those are just preferences, the only deal breaker is I don't want a Razer

Are you sure?

It's optical, heavy, all rubber, but it's Razer biggrin.gif

I was secretly hoping for a strong case for something other than the g400, but it seems to be the #1 choice no matter what.

@viowastaken: Been there, done that. But when I pay $100+ for a mouse, buying new skates, replacement parts + voiding warranty or waiting a month for the RMA process to complete all the while lacking a proper mouse is not something I want to make a habit of. (Talking about Razer specifically, had to call them way too early way too often and it always took an eternity to get something NOT done.)

@Domino: Fingertip, it is in the first post.

@tahayassen: If the Spawn VOIP problem persist it is a no go considering I use Vent / TS a lot. Many of those other mice are way over my budget, in fact the Deathadder costs ~$60 here which is the most I am willing to spend ATM. I am aware of the G400 cord issues, but I can replace it and their customer service is very helpful so not too worried there. Mouse sensor seems to be the overriding factor in your recommendations. And while I agree it is very important, I am not a pro gamer and so trust that most mice that get a lot of attention on these forums are good enough for my purposes. Shoot smile.gif. The links were very helpful, especially the one about the MS Comfort, so thank you!

@tehort: Isn't it length rather than width that makes fingertip impossible? I mean if I can hold a basketball palm down pretty sure I can handle a wide mouse too. But if it is not long enough to touch the back of my palm then every direction is 100% on the fingers, forcing me into a claw grip essentially. Or am I mistaken?

@splinterize: No. Way. biggrin.gif I am done with that company, they got their second and even third shot already.

You could try an IME 3.0.

The DPI is a bit low AFAIK, but the tracking is really good.

@OP: You said you mainly do FPS gaming, so I figured that sensor quality would be the most important. I'm going to go ahead and suggest some mice that have prediction and some that have acceleration when moving the mouse at high speeds. If a mouse is not on this list and I haven't already previously recommended it, then 99% sure its sensor is garbage or the mouse has a severe flaw. I'm not sure how you grip a G400 using fingertip style, so I'm going to suggest mice and you can tell me which ones you like.

That's wrong. A lot of the first generation hybrid laser mice had linear tracking to around 90 ips or moderate 2+ m/s via lower native DPI on correct surface. Negative accel after reaching max IPS

I don't really think thats angle snapping by definition.

My Kana has no accel at speeds below 3m/s, just thought I'd let you know.
