That's how I did it the first time too. My weapon didn't do much damage so I would have had to dodge forever.

Next time I had a mage and was able to kill him in about 10 hits so was able to just dodge.

Hey guys I remember seeing that the Balder Side Sword was really good so I farmed one but it seems like its better with high dexterity. My current character has 35 strength, I've heard that is higher than it needs to be but whatever. Anywho what weapon would you recommend for 35 strength? Right now I'm using a black knight halberd.

I think the manserpent sword from the guys in Sens is a good str scaler, without being super slow like the large axes. You'll want to upgrade it along the "plain" upgrade path, otherwise it'll ruin the scaling.

The large club is also really nice, better speed then the heavy axes and still good damage.

If you find a black knight greatsword, it's a great weapon to have.

A lightning Zweihander is another good one to use.

Both are ultra-greatswords.

I prefer the BKG because it's all physical damage and it tends to do better average damage to all enemies. The Lightning Zwei is nice because it deals physical and lightning, but each are only half of the total damage. If you have an enemy resistant to lightning, then the average damage drops significantly because of the resistance. I haven't found an enemy that is so resistant to physical attacks that it can withstand a hit or two from the BKG.

This is a tryhard approach.

If you really want to have some fun use the bonewheel shield. Make sure to go darkwraith so you can invade your unsuspecting prey. You should also equip the grass crest shield because, hey, the best offense is a good defense. Also the latent stamina regeneration will make sure you can get out of every sticky situation.

For armor you're going to want to go full thorns. The added damage on rolling animation is key in defeating other defense masters.

For spells you will need tranquil walk of peace. If you slow your enemies to a crawl you can spin your shield in their face and they can't even do anything about you!

For rings you need Hornet Ring for those epic shield backstabs and ripostes. Also get the Ring of Favor as this adds stamina, and that means more rolling, which means more damage from thorns. See? its all coming together now.

As soon as you invade your prey make sure to eat a Green Blossom, it gives you even more stamina regeneration. Approach your target

Initiate a bow and your enemy should in return. While he bows throw a dung pie and lloyd's talisman at him and cast your walk of peace spell. He can't defend during his animation so it will always hit.

From here on its up to you to hone your skills Good luck Black Phantom and may we meet for battle in sen's Funhouse!

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm really only playing the PVE portion of the game right now.

I do have the BKG but I find that it is way to slow for normal use. I upgraded my serpent sword to +10 and its doing 200+ damage on average. Haven't fought any bosses with it yet however. Four Kings are next wish me luck haha.

Perfect- in the New Londo ruins, there is the ember that will let you upgrade your weapon to +15. Your strength is probably pretty decent already, as you hit diminishing returns pretty hard after ~40. Since your weapon is going to be straight upgraded, you can put some levels into either faith or intelligence and get a weapon buff for massive damage.

If you make a lightning or fire weapon, you'll loose all the stat scaling and most of your strength points will be completely wasted... I wouldn't recommend that if you already have 30+.

I got a Black Knight Greataxe from the first guy that could drop one, I believe its around the middle of the game. I upgraded it to +5 immediately, which I believe is the max you can go with these type of weapons. I pretty much one shot everything, the game has been a joke after this. I one shot 4 kings just by straight up zerging them, went in with no experience. I'm 2 shotting the giants in anor, where before the axe it took a good 20 hits. I'm using Giants armor and a Silver Knight Shield, which is mostly fully upgraded already (+5 because they use twinkling). I'm pretty sure all of these things are deemed by many as "the best" or "arguably the best" for a STR build. Still having fun, and I know NG+ will make it harder. I just don't see myself having any real issues until the middle/late of NG+.

I just entered the demon ruins, I'm starting to hit 40 with my main stats, and i'm wondering if I should put more points into them or just focus on something else. Dimishing returns are really bad after 40. I plan to put 3 more points in endurance so I can remain below 50% with a full giant sets. I have 0 spells, never put any time into magic.

Lately i've been going around kindling everything to 20. I ran out of humanity now though, and didn't manage to get even half of them done. Will likely farm more humanity before NG+, I'd like to get all bonfires before the rite to 20. The ones after, I can get to 20 in NG+. I know most people stop at SL120 for PVP/Coop, but I don't really plan too. I prefer solo in these type of games anyway.
