With Dark Souls 2 coming up I'm seeing a LOT of chatter about this game. Also on the NG forums people constantly post pictures in the "PC screenshot thread" and it looks cool.

Am I missing out on something here? Should I buy and play this? It seems to be a cult classic of sorts...

You, like me, are absolutely missing out. Get it. Any version you can find.

If you go PC, download the fixes to fix resolution (locked at 720p unless modded) and the DSMousefix (controller is fine, but when fixed, keyboard and mouse is really good) and you're on your way.

Trust me, it's worth it. 100% worth it.

Luckily the sequel is supposedly getting a 100% proper PC port.

You quoted me twice bro! I did get it and I recommended you try the KB+M biggrin.gif

The game just gets better - I am now in Darkroot Forest and the atmosphere is insane.

Whoops, didn't realize that was you. Wasn't paying attention. Between this and FFXIV my winter hibernation is in full swing and with work I haven't slept that much.

Thanks for the help.

P.S. I dont know what the hold up is, you should really try Dark Souls. But use a keyboard and mouse. It's really good. tongue.gif

Just finished my 4th playthrough. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Can't wait for DS2. :)

Time for a 5th.

I bought the PS3 version because I didn't want to blindly trust the PC version (and I also didn't want to wait) and it's a true Dark Souls game.

Not to change the subject too much, but if you liked Dark Souls enough to play it that many times (I'm on my 4th as well smile.gif) I would highly recommend you check out Dragon's Drogma. Best way I can describe it is like Dark Souls in Skyrim's Universe.

I circled the skull, as im cursed, but thats where the humanity count is shown.

1. the weight parameter is only about the equipped weapons and armors, not about my entire inventory? so i can haul 1000 armors in inventory but weight considers only what i have currently equipped?
2. is there a way to save souls so i dont lose them with my death? (keep loot resell it for souls when needed)
3. do merchants have limited ammount of souls to trade or can i sell them as many armors from my inventory if i plan to buy something from them? like steel armor set from Crestfallen merchant at Sens fortress 23k+8k for tower shield
4. do i need to install sweetfx from guru3d or is it together with the sweetfx mods on nexus?
5. as Deprived without master key (Thief starting gift) i cannot get to havel ring in tower, Grass Crest Shield and black knight halberd ... ?
Then i guess black knight sword in undead berg is the only overpowered weapon i can use in beginning (needs 20str, 18dex as well).
*wait i found that i can choose my starting gift, tough i dont know if deprived can*
i will go normal way without master key, and will use black knight sword
6. can i save game in gfwl as a local profile, and if i dont get sword dropped, then just recopy file and reload?
7. if gfwl gets removed, can i then use my save from local profile that is offline?
8. i see black knight halberd having 32str required, but i saw somewhere 22str, which req is correct?

thank you

Waiting is easy for me, because I don't have a console. I'm actually considering going shield-only for my 5th playthrough. :p

It looks interesting, but unfortunately there are no plans for a PC port.

You can make a dash for the Gravelord Sword the moment you land in Firelink. It's in the Catacombs and a bit of a chore but pretty much as op'd as you can get. Also if you spend time as a human having the gravelord sword is an excellent defense against mid level gankers.

Also if you got a Black Knight to drop anything related to their gear this early you are very lucky. I've never had anything but the shield drop off of them.

To answer another question, you can find a few rings of sacrifice, which allow you to keep stuff after death, but they only work once then break so other than that pretty much no.

There is one at the start of the game under the initial entrance to the burg, and when you get back to the asylum you can trade humanity with "Snuggly the Crow" for two more (one for regular humanity, and one for twin humanities, if I remember correctly).

1. equipment load only counts to what you are wearing, so whatever you have in your equipment slots. You should be able to have things in your inventory and not count to the equip load.

2. The souls you can lose are located in your soul (bottom right #). Souls in your inventory, you can carry and not lose if you die.

3. Merchants do not have unlimited humanities. Humanity is arguably the more valuable item in the game. It can be farmed in the depths however. The rats have them as drops.

4. I have not used sweetfx. I have used the dsfix. You can tweak it to you liking. I recommend not changing to 60fps, it simply doesnt work.

5. You can still get into the tower without the master key, but you will need the Watchtower Basement Key.

6. I know the dsfix has a local save function. i've yet to use it though.

7. Dont know.

8. black knight halberd you need 32 strength, 18 dex.
