Guys, while the staff has determined that posting the article is okay, when responding please remember that we have a zero tolerance on piracy.

As per the usual, sanctions will be handed out to thread participants who breach the OCN Terms of Service, and we will be watching this thread closely. This includes berating other members for their opinions, as well as, of course, discussing any specific means or instances of piracy by yourself or people you know, etc.

Lastly, please also don't try to turn this thread into a debate over whether Software Piracy Is, or Is Not ... Theft.

I believe what they meant is that 5% of gamers buy their games while the other 95% simply spit on them and live without those DRM filled sub-par titles (except a couple good ones like AC and Silent Hunter).

It would behoove you to actually read what I wrote. The purpose of "most" in my words is clear. If you pirate and don't buy the game legally, then you stole it and there is no excuse, so then you are being greedy. The only time you might have a point is if you bought a copy as well - which you did not indicate - but even that escalates matters and is not smart and still illegal. And again, I said "most" for a reason.

That is simply false. The excuse comes up that the game was stolen because it was crappy (read: not worth paying for) all the time. There are also several logical falacies in your statement. For example, you cannot assume that the people who stole the game are representative of all of PC gaming. Also, if their games were not up to par, they wouldn't be pirated by your logic, so the piracy rate would be 0% and Ubisoft would have no reason to complain about it.

The "speak for yourself" comment means you need to actually provide proof for your assertion. "Most" is used a weasel word that often means the person using it has no real data.
