Two points (take with a grain of salt considering the source):

Today I bring you two important news from the world of AMD. Both are related to Piledriver CPU architecture. On the VR-Zone magazine appeared article, where the author speculates that AMD desktop Piledriver CPU architecture (FX2-8300) will not be launched, and AMD will wait for architecture Steamroller. Its total (expletive removed)! FX2-8300/6300 processors are in the final phase of ES production...(continued)

The second news is shocking. I have secret internal AMD document here, and there is something big: AMD FX2-8300/6300 (Piledriver Vishera) desktop processor is the last performance desktop CPU ever! Yes, it's true you read it correctly! All next processors in desktop will be only APU. AMD completely ends production of performance desktop CPUs! FX2-8300/6300 processors for socket AM3 + are the last competitors against Intel-DT platform. AMD gives up the fight against Intel here, and in the future will launch only APU with mainstream performance! Vishera + AM3+ are the last representative of an AMD performance CPU platform! Buy it, someday it will be a valued historical artifact.

Thoughts?

All AMD has to do is come up with a Micro ATX, very discrete tower, with a powerfull GPU(7770-7850), a decent quad-core and 64Gb ssd with windows 8 and 500-1000gb of HDD. This would sell like hot buns. As long as they keep the price under a grand I don't see why best buy wouldn't love those rigs.
Even newegg could sell those.

Take off the enthusiast mindset and think of what this means. We have reached 8 cores at enough performance only the minority (us) can complain about. Why should AMD spend tons of money trying to build something better than Intel (which they wont, simply because Intel has more money) when they could use that same money to build something more efficient more users will benefit from?

Think of what Llano meant to mainstream users: it was the first platform with actually reasonable gaming performance with an integrated GPU. Not to mention: in the mobile world it came out with cheap laptops that had the video performance of much more expensive counterparts.

I'm not saying Llano is the end all, but it's certainly in the right track.

If you look ahead into the future, APUs will be what most people will be using(everything will be HW accelerated) so I see no reason as to why AMD wouldn't focus all of their energy into APUs and not CPUs. AMD is getting ready for the future here and in 3-5 years, CPUs will be ancient technology.

That's crazy... many have worried it might go that way, but this is big news if true.

Keep in mind, OBR was the first one to leak BD's disappointing (for the most part) performance. Many people called him a liar and said what he was saying can't be true... but it was.

As usual keep in mind that this is a bold claim, but please don't run around saying this guy is always wrong and taking this post into off topic oblivion.
