There are still exclusives, they are the only games I buy for consoles, and those alone still make it worth owning one or both if you are a gamer.
Nothing like Madden for a few hours with buddies before the game kicks off on a sunday afternoon.
well yes, these are the only exceptions.

Honestly not many exclusives for Xbox 360. At least, a lot less than PS3. I own one, I would know.

I looked at your rig, and it's puzzles me why you would want a console.

Imo, it's not worth it. You're buying a $300 console for $150 hardware. Just wait it out by playing on the PC in the meantime.

Too late, ordered and it has already been shipped. I like to mix it up a bit you know? I don't like to limit myself to one form of gaming, and also, PS3 has some damn good exclusives.

if you can use it correctly and legally and dont mind the absence of online games, the PS3 can also be modded

I have a PS3 and a 360, I use my PC all the time, if I play a game I use the 360, it's far far far superior for games then the PS3 in my opinion, yes true the PS3 has a few exclusive titles but hey there are loads of games out there to keep you busy.

The PS3 has become a ornament that sometimes comes out when the wife and her friends are on the wine and play singstar...lachen.gif

There have been leaked pictures of a new cheaper PS3 rumored to be launched in a month or two I believe

Here is the article: http://www.joystiq.com/2012/07/13/rumor-new-ps3-model-photographed/

So maybe if you do decide to get a PS3 perhaps you ought to wait up for this model but back to your original question, I think it's worthwhile getting one still, although both the Xbox and PS3 have been around for quite some time, there is a great lineup of games with more to come and I think you will still enjoy it.

Hello friends,
I am soon to be returning to my home country, the United Provinces of Canada after about a month of studying in another country. I'm ready to blow some cash after being away and I was thinking of getting a PS3. I was fortunate enough to find a good deal online for a spankin' new 320GB slim online bundled with three games for a reasonable price of $300 before tax (reasonable for me).
However after doing some research I found out that the PS3 seems to have reached the end of it's cycle, Sony tending to release a new console every 6 years, 2012 being the sixth year since the release of the PS3. now I have heard rumors about the "PS4" coming out Christmas of 2013, while others have said the PS3 won't be replaced until 2016. If a new one is coming out soon, I don't want to waste my money now and have to buy another console.
On the other hand, I have also heard that they are releasing a new slimmer version of the PS3 (which is fine by me, I dont care if I miss out on something newer of the same model) which my instincts tell me is a sign that maybe Sony isn't going to release a new console anytime soon. Why release a slimmer version of your current console if you are just going to release a new console in a years time?
So right now I am unsure if I should buy a PS3 now or just wait. I already own a Xbox 360(xbox live fees are a **** though so i dont play it much) and I mosty play PC games, but there are some pretty titles I've wanted to try for awhile now and many of my friends own a PS3 and only a few own a Xbox. I think the free Internet might also encourage me to play more. Other features like blu-ray and stuff I probably wont use cause I have a theatre set.
So what do you guys think? Is this a good time to buy a PS3 at this time or not? If not I'll probably spend the money elsewhere (new microphone, or something of the sort). OCN members tend to have a better idea of when products come out, with new pc hardware coming out daily, so I decided to ask you guys.
Thanks.
PS I know there are many threads already about this but I wanted people's opinion on my particular situation.
PPS Sorry for the atrocious typing, damn iPad is impossible to type well on.

Do it, here's a starting point.
http://forums.redflagdeals.com/sears-99-94-xbox-4gb-99-94-ps3-160gb-1219456/

tongue.gif Worst case is $199 for a 160GB from what I hear.

EDIT I say starting point because the hoarders probably got to most of them but GL anyways.

Buying old consoles is great. I didn't get a console until I was 13, so now I've been collecting old systems (NES, SNES, PS2, XBOX). Then I buy the best games ever, like Katamari and Metal Gear Solid.Playing games on their original consoles rather than remakes is a privilege.

I have to say the PS3, I actually got it for my son when he turned 5, he really likes playing Big planet and a few others that we have like from Dust

As far as me and the wife, we use it pretty much for netflix , youtube, and the Video playback formats are decent (we have a Computer program to convert videos to proper format when truly needed) so we will often download anime or something and watch it off the Flash Drive/Extrernal HDD.

Just make sure that if you do anythign internet related with the PS3, that you are Hardwired LAN Connected, DO NOT USE WIFI!!

Ive never had better, stronger wifi connection in my home, but this PS3 is a joke as using wifi. Super slow, constantly times out,

Outside o fthe that, the browser works pretty well, I cannot use some of the anime streaming sites I like with it, but thats mostly a fault of my wifi and some plugins that just dont want to load.

youtube will work flawlessly, but looks like super sheist on my TV lol

Question, when SOny makes SLim models, are they also changing, or improving any of th e quipment? Like die shrinks etc?

Edit: I would also Liketo add, that since it is old you have access to more used games at gamestop lol
