Should I buy a PS3? Too late? Or right on time? - Page 4

Even if Sony released the PS4 tomorrow there would be a very small library of games for the next year whereas if you buy a PS3 now you have all the major titles ever released and many of these are on their 2nd or 3rd installment which wasn't the case if you had bought a PS3 years ago. I see you have a gaming PC but if you intend to play lots of console games go for it.

About a year ago I switched from my ps3/360 to pc gaming. I had been a very very casual pc gamer before then but never truly had skills with the mouse and keyboard or a decent pc.

Now when it comes to the 360/ps3 debate, ps3 all the way. I started off on a 360 in this current gen console market and was a fanboy for years until I got a ps3. The only reason I kept the 360 around is because everybody I knew played on the 360. Games like killzone 2 and unchrated 2 blew me away on how pretty they looked compared to anything on the 360.

Then I got a decent rig to start gaming on and everything changed (then eventually upgraded to what I have now). After awhile I went back to play some killzone 3 and uncharted 3, which I hadn't played yet. I was completely shocked. "What the hell??? These games look 10x worse then the games before it!" That obviously was not the case, my expectations were just so high from my memories of how good I thought the games looked. I hadn't truly realized how much better the pc was until then.

I realize this all leads to the obvious, but really make sure you are well aware that games are gonna look like complete crap, run at a subpar resolution, and most likely run down to 30fps. It really truly is 5+ year old gaming. Difference between 360 and ps3, maybe 10%. Difference between 360/ps3 and pc, at least 500% and counting.

If you don't have a problem with that then go ahead and get it. As for the timing of the ps4, Q4 2013 really sounds spot on these days. I can't see anything later than Q4 2014, but honestly I think sony knows that waiting that long with these outdated systems will just be shooting themselves int he foot. They made the mistake of getting off to a late start with a ps3 and with all the rumors about next gen launching around q4 2013 I am sure they will make it as close to that as possible, if not sooner.

Thinking a release past 2014 is even the slightest bit possible is just stupid.

As of about a week ago the 360 has internet explorer.

Weird. I have NEVER used the LAN connection on mine. My wifi works great. Well, I dunno how well it works since my PS3 is always close to my router but I have never experienced anything like you have. What model are you running? I have one of the early 40gb versions (fatty) she still runs great after all these years.

tongue.gif Worst case is $199 for a 160GB from what I hear.
EDIT I say starting point because the hoarders probably got to most of them but GL anyways.
You just made my awesome amazing bundle deal, seem like trashy, rip-off bundle D:! I already bought my PS3 and it's been shipped, but hot damn, those are some attractive prices. Unfortunate Sears has had this going for three months already, almost positive all stock is gone, especially the PS3s, might be a few Xboxs laying about.

I wouldn't except for social reasons or if you in particular have a thing for japanese games. But I feel like the western titles for the system for it aren't worth it. I feel like investing in a japanese ps3 (so you could play japanese titles unreleased in the us) is almost the best option.

I've always used wifi on my ps3 since my apartment doesn't have LAN and it couldn't be faster. No lag while gaming, quick downloads, perfect high def netflix/hulu streams...no problems at all, and I'm a floor above the router. Maybe you have a defective one. It works great on my current 180 gb slime and my old 80gb fat
