GTX 560 SC version questions

I have been scouring up and down the sites looking at benchmarks for a GPU. I am kind of looking for a good budget ~$130-$150 and i came across a GTX 560 SC.

I understand that they overclock it at the factory and usually (from my research lately) it is not worth the price but it is actually cheaper than the other 560s available.

My question is this... If it is Superclocked, even if the manufacturer did it, does that shorten the lifespan of the card? Aren't the Superclocked versions supposed to cost more money?

Most "superclocked" cards actually have a very very mild OC on them that honestly doesn't make much of a difference. However, I have heard that sometimes the superclocked versions are high binned cards. Also, keep in mind that this is a 560, not a 560 Ti when you are reading the benchmarks as there is a substantial difference.

I know it isn't a Ti and for what i want to do (Starcraft 2 primarily) it is better than the Intel HD 3000.

it is also a good 50-60 cheaper than a Ti which i need to watch my pennies.

(Note: When you have a kid, money doesn't flow to the toys like it used to...) thinking.gif

Also, i just looked up Binning...

i take it "high binning" is a good thing.

If its true then yes. Very few gpu's are binned beyond what most cards can do. Imo at least 80% of factory overclocks could be achieved by 95% of said gpu. If that makes any sense.

But don't worry about the lifespan. The SC should be running the same voltage so a small bump in clock speed is no biggie.
