[Chair] http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16846202297

I just wanted to get something together quickly because I'm sick of my T9300 (LOL) so I got that RAM for a big discount. I would rather have had the Samsung stuff (also could add another 8GB more easily with the Samsung... Should it ever be needed). Also would rather have had Corsair PSU but the prices just aren't as good as they were a few months back. People tell me 675 should be enough for future CF.

Still waiting on dream-seller. No shipping confirmation, status updates, tracking numbers, communication... I was 50/50 on the Korean monitor thing, hope it works out soon.

The chair is awesome so far. Stock 3770K heatsink hilarious.

Thoughts? Anything I missed? Cables I need that aren't included? Worth adding extra fans to 500R? I'll consider posting pictures of any of the stuff should anyone want one for whatever reason. Will post finished pictures once the monitor (hopefully) comes in.

Update
dream-seller sent confirmation that he shipped and at latest the monitor should arrive Monday. I'll do a quick review of all the new parts later that day but since I'm coming from such an old system, I'm sure even an X6 1100T and a 6870 would probably feel God-like to me.

Interesting update. The Havik 140 clears the 4GBx2 Corsair Vengeance RAM. However, only two modules seem to be able to fit with the Havik 140 cooler. Looking at how things sit, I would be extremely surprised if someone could even fit a low-profile module in the first slot, closest to CPU. The oversized fans of the Havik 140 will end up blocking, or so it seems, the first RAM slot on the motherboard.

I looked everywhere for that info and couldn't find it so I hope someone looking to use the ASRock Extreme4 + Havik 140 + Corsair Vengeance combo can find this for the info they seek.

I did not like how the thermal paste NZXT provided spread.

Those who are researching Korean monitors - Nothing irks me more than slow shipping. There were tons of posts in the various Korean monitor clubs about people who miraculously received their monitors the next day! I'm not illegitimizing them, but the most hopeful prospect of me receiving my monitor will be 10 business days after payment confirmation. Four business days from payment confirmation to ship. Something to consider.

Those who are researching towers - Corsair is on a different level than everything I've used before. From someone who previously thought it was absurd to spend $130 on a case, spend the extra money! Completely blown away by thoughtfulness and utilitarian design.

You should have enough for crossfire. Other people have measure 2x6950's at the wall drawing 475ish watts. And the 7xxx series cards draw less power so yo might me cutting reall close with tri-fire.

Also with the havik cooler are you able to move the fans up on the heatsink at all to allow for ram clearance.

The samsung ram is very tiny barely higher than the ram clips on the mobo!thumb.gif

I had no idea that the previous generation of cards were so efficient. I'm probably not even going to crossfire to be honest. If there's a huge gain by the next generation at 2560x1440, I'll just buy the next flagship... Probably. CF a solid plan 'B' I guess.

Yeah if I ever need 16GB, I'll get rid of this Vengeance and go with the Samsung. I just can't think of anything I'll need 16GB for, at the moment anyways tongue.gif

Well, everything arrived today and I'm on it now. Basically I love everything so far. 7970 is awesome and silent during normal operation. Haven't stressed the 3770k yet, but according to SpeedFan it's idling at a comfortable 32 °C courtesy of the Havik 140. Biggest upgrade was not the SSD, it was the Korean monitor by leaps and bounds.

I'm hoping eventually to just lock the CPU at 4GHz at or below stock voltage. Same with 7970, maybe slight bump with very limited voltage increase.

Still getting used to not accidentally installing everything on my SSD but I've only been on it 30ish minutes. For those trying to figure out how much space they'll have after Windows 7 Ultimate, I have that and Steam with CS:S and a few others like Firefox and have 79GB free.

Thanks to OCN for being a cool place to keep up to date over the years. Oh, and for being a good place to smugly watch the woefulness and self-pitying of BD customers smile.gif
